When & why did the whole 'han solo' style take off for women?

PP, it's like this: if someone tells you something is "timeless" or "classic" - then wear just the opposite. D.C. is not exactly a fashion hub. Don't let it get to a point where you have to follow other people. At that point, you have just given up completely. That is the only message it sends.

Good God PP - do you need other people's approval to sneeze?

Of course no one has to copy! The point is that everyone does on some level. The other point is that the people who avoid a style because "everyone" is wearing it are no better than the ones who wear a style because "everyone" is wearing it. Either way they are watching what everyone else is doing and reacting. the people who decide something is "out" because everyone is wearing something are just as much fashion victims as everyone else. IMO, those who have decided a style is "out" are equally concerned with their image and no more free than the Hans Solo brigade.

I think they won't show what the consider stylish because it's just some variant of what is popular or is the same as what is being a worn by some other fashion sub-culture.

You got us. It's a conspiracy.

The why? It's comfortable and easy.

And deliberate. Way too deliberate. It just doesn't look good on most people.

I read this thread and then in 2 blocks I saw more than 10women wearing it.

I never liked the look. I never like the big boots over jeans thing. The vest and scarf are also not my thing.

Now every time I see somebody: Han Solo is stuck in my head and I giggle.

I never was one to dress in "uniform". I'm turned off if every other woman is wearing it.

What is wrong with a uniform? It takes time, effort, and money to be "different". I'd rather concentrate on living, having fun. For clothes, I just go to the store, grab the current uniform, and get out as quickly as possible so I can get back to my children, family, and work. Anyway, I don't have the money to be different and classy, and I hate the recycled hippy look that poor people who want to be "different" use.

Fun colors are not health goth, but you do you.

You people are hopeless. Grow up and find your own style. It takes less time than creeping bad fashoin blogs.

I saw a bunch too. Some looked cute and put together! I would wear that one day and the health goth the next. Do what you like. Half the people will hate and love it either way.
