When & why did the whole 'han solo' style take off for women?

And please stop wearing big arse boots when it is greater than 30 degrees.

And stop wearing the gigantic head swallowing infinity scarves. Ugh! Great style and design are officially dead!

I keep checking this thread hoping for somebody to post a picture of Han Solo. I haven't been able to find a good one. Here is the closest I could find:

And the aviators. Enough of the aviators. They looked bad in 1992, they look worse now.

hee!

Answer is closer to 10 years, not 5 or 6.

+1. Not sure if it started in CA, but I was certainly wearing this sort of stuff there in like '07/08.

so everyone saying 8-10 years.....what was it that happened then that made this blow up? Was it a particular celeb that just lit the fuse on this style? Financial crisis made this the go-to garb?

The D.C. area is the last to get "fashion".

because men drool over women who like these models (especially #3 and #2 w/o the jacket)

None of these women are covering their lady bits. See the super long thread in the elementary school aged forum about how *horrible* it is for 6 year olds to do this.

Call me a prude but I think these tops should be longer. On adult women there's way too much possibility for camel toe. And I've seen many women walking around in leggings unaware of the camel toe!!

As far as six year olds, it doesn't seem like that much of a problem or big deal.

why do you think men love this look????

IDK but this was my uniform in college- yeah, about ten years ago.

It's easy, comfortable, and cute! What's not to like?

The real "basic bitches" are the ones who are still using that demeaning and sad phrase even years after most have stopped. Take a look at your own damn selves.

It's cute? Maybe. More like androgynous. I go for something more feminine.

I attended an all girl's college in Virginia in the early 90s and I can tell you that hordes of my classmates dressed like Hans Solo then. Not so much the first picture that someone provided, but close: tight and dark bottoms (either leggings or jeans), tall flat boots, long-sleeved shirt (usually cream or white) and the black vest. It is NOT a new look... it's a "classic modern" look for the the equestrian, monied set. I think many women now have morphed that look into something looser/more hippish with the infinity scarves, and more colorful versions of the bottoms, plus looser jackets instead of the black vest. I wouldn't call that Hans Solo look, but maybe a derivative look.

I moved away from here after college but returned (well, to DC) about 8 years ago and I was actually SHOCKED to see everyone (young and old alike) still wearing the same look.
