You are both crazy. Truly. Nobody has asked who the victim is. And why would they? Comments have been limited to info about the suspect and where the incident took place (details that are typically reported). No victim blaming. Some isolated comments perhaps, but all I've really seen is frustration from locals who are on edge. Again: note the incident that happened at a middle school bus stop in Olney the other day (and details have yet to be released regarding the suspect or location). I can see why this might not be of interest to you if you live elsewhere, but locals with kids at Sherwood and Rosa want to have basic info about the suspects and locations. Signed, Bleeding heart liberal who lives in Olney (and who finds your comments relating this to Trump quite befuddling) |
Agree with the PP completely. Families with kids in the area are definitely a little nervous. Agree that there are some isolated strange comments, but other than that I think it's people looking for more info. Until this guy is caught, people will want to know more. Nothing Trumpish about it. |

Also saw the news about a rape near the Rockville Metro Station yesterday (?) at 7am.
Not in the exact same area, but somewhat close. http://www.fox5dc.com/news/206526684-story |

It was probably in the field on a path that connects Auburn to the Sherwood High School parking lot. Kids from Auburn can walk to the high school that way...it is very isolated, but what was a man doing there in the first place? It's near a path taken frequently by people running or walking their dogs near the "sandy spring." I live there, have two teen daughters and it is very disconcerting to know this has happened and they have not caught the guy. Since the police responded to the hospital where the girls parents had taken her, I doubt it's a hoax as some people have insinuated, but still a puzzle why someone would be back there.

Anyone have regular landscapers who know about the path and would have observed kids walking on it?
Anyone on that street recently have contractors, painters, etc. who would have observed kids on the path? Is the area a cut through for anything else? Are there woods nearby where a vagrant might camp? Nobody thinks this is a hoax. People wondered early on since it took the police five days to release any details regarding location and the suspect It's common for neighborhoods to experience burglaries when contractors are around (or shortly thereafter). They can case the street and quickly determine which houses are empty during the day. They also notice the latch key kids. |
Why can't the princicpal bring himself to use the word "rape" rather than just call it an "assault?" |
| I have a feeling the suspect is a local in the area. I remember the last time this happened in Olney at a park it was a 15 year old boy at the time. Can I please get a clearer description? Possibly Hispanic to me sounds like the suspect is black, white, Asian or Hispanic. Any and all convicted criminals in that area need to give up some DNA. The suspect might also be un-employed or even possibly a student. |
For all of you locals, read The Greater Olney News - Vol 2, No. 1 - 10/19/2016, page 5. They knew each other. from the article -
I called it early on and questioned the situation, but I was basically called a deplorable. nice going, DCUM! People can't question stories in the news, eh? And I feel sorry for the girl - even if the act was consensual, as this can't be easy for her. |
Oh, so you win. |
