Your mother should have just planned her own party and stop the passive/aggressive "I don't want to plan my own party." I would love a daughter like you. You're thoughtful and put up a lot of negativity when all you wanted to do was make a special night for your Mom. Too bad she's worried about the "stuff" and not the important part - people who want to gather and celebrate with her. Both of your parents are lucky to have a daughter like you and it's great you were raised by a mother like her but can still appreciate what really matters in life. Ignore Mom and have a great time at the party with everyone who will be happy to see you.
