More women are running for Congress and holding pubic office than ever before and those numbers are expected to rise. Our economy is not going to function if all moms drop out of the workforce, including whatever company your husband works for.

If you prefer not to work, great. But yes it is troubling when a politician, and one who may be VP, has these kinds of ill-informed musings. So is this going to be an excuse NOT to support working families? If the middle class is having trouble is he going to blame working moms as the reason for inertia? Has his thinking on this changed in 20 years? Because that has implications for us all.

Who's raising the little children? Broken-English immigrants?

Sorry you are a miserable cow whose mental issues prohibited you from having a career.

Enjoy your elastic waist pants.

I'm a self-supporting single parent. You?

Someone who has basic respect for people, including immigrants and people whose first language is not English.

Don't. Just don't. Sahm here who thinks this is total bull. Those kids are just fine. Or they aren't, but it isn't related to day care and you damn well know it.

The point is that white men regularly think they get to dictate how women chose to live their lives and shame us if we chose "wrong". They don't, and they should be called out for it.

White men regularly think this?

SAH lady, I have no clue who YOUR husband's friends are, but my husband and his friends don't think this way (white, black, Asian, you name it). Maybe it's b/c we all work, which means there's the assumption that some form of daycare is part of the schedule.

white men? really? Did your brain go to mush already?

I'm the pp you responded to and I'm shocked my post seemed to push so many buttons for you. I was trying to stop the ludicrous mom wars, but given that you immediately went questioning how my spouse thinks of me and if my brain has gone to mush, that seems futile.

And, yes, historically, it has been white men who feel entitled enough to dictate to women about how they should live their lives. This is primarily a function of who has been in power in this country. I wasn't talking about your husband. I was talking about Pence, and other politicians who say crap like this and are, you know, white.

does that sound like an ideal situation for anyone? Kid or parent? Troll all you want on my choice to stay at home, I don't care. I know I'm right.

You're indeed doing the hardest, but most important job.

And make no mistake, people, full-time parenting IS work. Or you can outsource and pay someone else to do the work, while you do whatever else you do.

You made a sweeping generalization and are no better than others who perpetuate dangerous stereotypes. Do you believe all male teachers are not to be trusted with children, too? See where I'm going?

Not all white, male politicians want to run over women either.

The statements on these boards are ridiculous.

There are plenty of women who are unhappy staying home and plenty of children who would be much better off in a child care setting. But think what you will. Sorry your life has no meaning beyond your four walls. Hope your meal ticket doesn't leave you for a younger model.

You're such a sad individual.

Do you want stories of parents who killed their own children? There are a bunch of those out there. So by your logic no parent should ever be left with a child.

Parents who are at risk of hurting their children DEFINITELY should put their child in daycare, maybe even foster care.
