And I feel really bad for you, so there's that.

Don't. Just don't. Sahm here who thinks this is total bull. Those kids are just fine. Or they aren't, but it isn't related to day care and you damn well know it.

The point is that white men regularly think they get to dictate how women chose to live their lives and shame us if we chose "wrong". They don't, and they should be called out for it.

+1
Another SAHM here. Just stop, PP. Daycare doesn't ruin kids. I'm actually more concerned about children whose parents have such poor critical thinking skills.

The towel charm thread on jezebel is amazing, thank you, PP.

DH wanted to know what I was laughing about, and having to explain what a towel charm is had me rolling.

White men regularly think this?

SAH lady, I have no clue who YOUR husband's friends are, but my husband and his friends don't think this way (white, black, Asian, you name it). Maybe it's b/c we all work, which means there's the assumption that some form of daycare is part of the schedule.

white men? really? Did your brain go to mush already?

Don’t know why that is important, but from Wikipedia:
"She has taught at John Strange Elementary, Acton Elementary, Fall Creek Elementary, and the Orchard School, all in Indianapolis.”

You can check out the schools and figure out what category they fall into. Evidently, the Orchard School is an independent school.

Wondering if you asked the same thing about Biden’s wife when he was running with Obama. What kind of college did she teach at?

These are metal charms you pin on your towel to keep track of people's towels in your home.

I'm not kidding. This is a business she created. I would link out but there are too many wonderful articles out there for you not to google this.

Does that qualify as "work"? Please tell me this crap isn't made in some Malaysian sweatshop.

I can't get on towelcharm.com right now, but a thousand bucks says that these are made in America.

Ack, PP here, meant AREN'T made in America! Argh.

There's also that I feel really bad for her kids. Go away, anti-daycare lady.

No kidding.
It seems as if EVERY damned thread has to have at least one poster throw in race, whether it’s pertinent or not.

Pence's politics are mock-worthy, but having visited with extended family for extended periods of time with shared bathrooms? That's a good idea.

This is actually a brilliant idea. Where can I get some???

I'm conservative and I think there room for a substantive conversation about daycare in America. It aligns with my family values and wanting people to be able to choose life and get ahead to have access to quality daycare when their children are most vulnerable. I agree with Hillary Clinton on raising this. I do find it strange that under this democratic president our military daycare subsidy (not full cost - just a few 100 to bridge gap to the incredibly costly quality daycare in this area for this who cannot use or find space in base daycare - a lot of people) was quietly dropped and not renewed.

Specifically, the military has not caught up to the reality of single or two parent working families and still operates in a 1950s paradigm that the spouse and family follows and manages the home. However, its not as if they have increased salary for the military spouse who works and some benefits (like daycare) have been reduced. Their job placement is also stuff like commissary shifts (nothing against people who seek those shifts) but it does not acknowledge professional spouses at all. And, the modern world has evolved and many military spouses be they male.or female work..I was hoping with eight years of a democratic president and their stated support for military families there would be acknowledgment and progress there.. Obama has transformed the military in so many ways, but definitely not to make it easier for there to be what are typical non military working moms, sometimes dads, as in this title.
