Not everything fits in an Amazon locker. Got it? |
Then be home to get your package - the wonders of "out for delivery" via the tracking info you are sent! Have a neighbor grab for you Have the carrier (UPS, FEDEX, etc) hold it for you Dont order online If you are that worried about a package being stolen figure out another option. |
Who said thieves ONLY steal Amazon packages? I doubt they discriminate... Figure out a way to make sure someone is able to grab your package, it's that simple. The onus is on you. It sucks, but it is what it is. |
NP here and as a Fed worker I can tell you that it would be frowned on if I had everything shipped to my office, especially because it all has to go through inspection first to make sure there nothing dangerous in the mail. Also a lot of the boxes I get are large or heavy and I wouldn't be able to carry them home esp. not on metro. |
You can be disciplined for using fed mail for your personal use, even if it's just receiving mail. |
Here's an idea: Go to the store. |
|
Great. We covered that 3 pages ago. Some people cannot receive personal mail at the office and some people ride the metro and packages can be too large to carry. Bottom line seems to be - do what is best for you but if you order packages online and fear they might be lifted from your porch make arrangements for them to be held or for someone to grab them for you or just be home when they arrive. You can be disciplined for using fed mail for your personal use, even if it's just receiving mail. |
If you live in an area with package theft AND you have jobs that do not allow you to telework/stay home periodically to pick up a package AND you don't know anyone that can pick up the box for your AND you don't know someone who lives in a safer area who would allow you to have the package sent ot them AND you have a job where the employer doesn't allow you to receive packages, then rent a postal box at the Post Office or local UPS store. You made the choice to live where you live. You weighed the pros and cons of living there vs living elsewhere, so instead of whining about one of the cons that you accepted to live there, do something to compensate. And stop whining about a con that you accepted to live where you chose to live. |
Why do you think electronics? It started with books. Would be interesting to see their sales mix but I suspect electronics are a pretty small percent of boxes. I just ordered a $2200 item from Amazon. The seller required a signature, which makes sense for a higher value item. That's true for a lot of Apple shipments too. |
I have trypophobia. I can't go to the store. Something might trigger me. |
This makes no sense to me. If you were talking about a box that said Tiffany or Neiman Marcus or Hugo Boss or something, maybe - but if Amazon and Zappos boxes are getting stolen, I don't think plain brown boxes are going to make any difference. |
All the postal boxes at my local Post Office and UPS store are sold out. Now what? |
UPS Store Pacel Plus Stores Use a Different Post office Cmon, you know you can rent PO boxes at other places beyond USPS. This really is not that difficult. |
Find another UPS location or post office. There happen to be 3 post offices in my little suburb, plus 3 within 10 minutes in nearby suburbs. That doesn't include the 3 in the suburb where I work. There are 3 UPS locations within 10 minutes of my house and 2 more within 10 minutes of my work. Where do you live/work in the DC metro area that there is only one post office and one UPS store close to your house? |
