Why cant Amazon/Zappos etc... use less obvious & more discrete packaging for their shipments?

To the PP who suggested having stuff shipped to work, many companies to not allow this. Where I work in DC if you do you get a label on your letter or package reminding you about the no personal items delivered to the office rule. I used to get it on my junk mail all the time. Like I am really going to contract random companies and ask them to mail the junk mail to my home instead, especially as the companies got my address through conferences or other work event.

BTW I am pretty sure amazon still has locker service, so if you are concerned your package might be stolen have it shipped to a locker and pick it up from there.

If married send it to your spouse's office then. I've never heard of this policy. Have it held at UPS. There are other options.

NP but we're dual feds. No personal boxes!

Go to the store and take home your purchases. Also better for the environment.

Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it's not common. I work at a law firm that has a policy of no personal shipments to the office. My spouse doesn't work in an office, so there's no "spouse's office" to send stuff to.

Deliveries like this were certainly not imagined with big city life in mind. In Paris, there are NO unattended boxes. The system doesn't work like that because they would be stolen within minutes. Either it fits into your tiny mailbox, or you're at home/ in your office to sign for your package, or it's left at the post office/specified safe location and you have X days to pick it up.

Don't know how it works in NYC.

I love living in the American suburbs!

Why can't people figure out the difference between discrete and discreet?

So true!

I buy diapers from Amazon constantly. Guess there's a huge black market for Huggies? Pretty obvious from the weight of my boxes that it's not a TV.

I've got some printer paper arriving today. Exciting stuff. We did have a box taken at xmas a year ago (in Bethesda). It was two $10-15 children's games. The street value of those has to be less than $1. But I don't think it matters if it says amazon or is unmarked - a package is a package.

WTF, hold it at UPS then. There are solutions for everything. If you can't have packages at your office and you aren't home to get them then either do not order stuff to your home OR grab them AT ups. It's not rocket science.

LOL, right? Enjoy my three boxes of size 2 diapers, sucker.

+1

I'd laugh if anyone stole one of our Amazon boxes.
