Oh yes, I'm sure your kid will have no chance now of getting a good education because a "borderline kid" got in. It's all over now. Better start looking at private schools!
To everyone else receiving letters today....good luck. |

What a bunch of crap! My now 4th grader got "borderline" scores on NNAT and CogAT and wasn't in pool. She also got a 9 GBRS. She wasn't borderline and she doesn't bring anyone down in AAP. In fact her IQ tested at 139. You people need a life. |
| Did anyone receive letters from zip code 20120? |
I'm not one of the mean spirited posters. I don't believe a kid with a borderline file will bring the AAP class down. I also don't believe most kids need AAP (and my own kid has a 145 IQ, so I think I feel pretty confident I'm entitled to state that opinion.) That said, there is no question the file we're talking about WAS borderline and I could understand parents of kids with seemingly stronger non-borderline files being upset their children weren't admitted. |
| Could people offline any discussion of the merits of particular decisions to a different thread? It would be helpful if this thread was kept as a statistical thread of acceptances and denials. Thanks. |

No letter yet at 22043...
Good luck to all and...if your child did not get in and you know he/she would be happiest in an AAP class, do appeal or try again next year--you know your child better than anyone. BTW, how does everyone seem to know the GBRS score...our schools don't share that info with us (I don't think). I just wish Fairfax would fix the FCPS funding so all the great teachers would stop leaving to work elsewhere; this teacher attrition is slowly hurting our gifted programs. (sorry, off-topic) |
You have to ask your AART for the GBRS. It is your right as a parent to know. Schools can't withhold that information. |
Another one in 22043 without a letter. Yes, ask the AART for the package submitted to the selection committee. We asked ours and she sent the package home with our child the next day. (it was in a sealed envelope - our child has no idea about the AAP process). We are at Shrevewood. |

Or perhaps this is a made up post designed to stir things up. Or maybe this poster is from one of the pyramids that qualifies very few kids for AAP. Who knows? |
Oh please! Can you all stop? Nobody will post their kids scores unless the scores are in the high ends. We simply want to know the statistics of those INs and Nots in this thread, right? |

NNAT 125
CoGAT 125 GBRS 16 In |
| People need to understand that these numbers are only a piece of the file, whether in or not. There is a whole lot we can't share on here so you can't really make much out of these score postings. It's not apples to apples. You can get an idea but if someone has scores higher who doesn't get in or scores lower who does, you have no idea what the rest of the file looked like to get your panties all in a bunch. |

Finally got a mail in 22033.
In. Good luck to others too. |
