I'll explain, PP: people who are too cheap to book an appropriate spring break trip for their children.

Go back and tape the plastic over the inside of the shower so that the person in the shower is the only one who can remove it. If the window all is large, buy 2 shower curtains or tablecloths. Done.
Two maintenance workers taped 2 towels from the room side yesterday, and they told us they didn't know people can see through that "mirror" - not sure whether to believe them.

Oh, that is total BS that they didn't know about that unless they both started to work at that hotel within the past couple of days. You can bet that guests are regularly less than pleased to find out about this two way mirror feature in their room. And probably a lot of them find out the hard way about it - after being embarrassed.

I looked at the TripAdvisor reviews and I had to read through some reviews before I saw any mention of that mirror. There is nothing that I've seen that really warns people about that mirror, either. I looked around the hotel website, if it's mentioned I didn't see it.

I can totally see how the Op chose this hotel room based on it being a luxury hotel and not realizing this creeper feature was in shower.

Really? People do this? My kids are little still but it never occurred to me to get a second room once they reached a certain age. My parents never did, and what's more, there were five of us so one of us (usually me...) always slept on the floor.

The fact that you are so concerned about non-locking doors and cracks someone can peek through makes me wonder what suspicions you have about your husband and the daughters. You three females aren't staying in the room with a stranger.

Oh give me a break. With a freakin' two way mirror in the damned shower you can bet that the bathroom door has a pretty significant sized gap in it too. The use of this bathroom is clearly meant to be a shared experience with everyone in the room. I would have died of embarrassment as a teenage girl having to share a bathroom like that with my dad. Hell, he would have died of embarrassment. And honestly I wouldn't have wanted to share a room like that with my mom or my sister either (let alone a brother ).

Bathrooms have walls and doors for a reason - privacy! If the bathroom is not private and there are trick windows into it, the guests should be warned.

Hi OP.

Mirrors on the ceiling and rotating beds? When's the last time you were in Vegas, 1977?

Hi OP.

Not Op. But I am offended for Op and her family.

Research, research, research. Yelp and trip advisor. For some people that room would be great as an added feature. If you don't like your room, call the front desk and ask to move. If they can't accommodate you, consider changing hotels.

They provided a solution that fixed the problem for you, even if it wasn't the most artful solution.

You want to hold them accountable? For what exactly?

This thread reminds me of old "Vacation" movie with the Griswold family...

If this feature is so sought after you would expect it to be mentioned quite clearly in reviews, the hotel website, etc. I know that this hotel has a pool and a casino and food offerings. But when I glance at reviews and pictures of the accommodations, etc. it is very easy to miss this whole thing about the two way mirrors. I can totally see why Op didn't notice that when she booked the room. It really isn't that obvious to me - it looks like a normal room with a normal bathroom (with walls and a door).

I'm the PP above. The problem with the towels is that they can be taken down or parted for a peak from the bedroom side. The plastic covering is on the bathroom side and the control of the person in the shower. Much safer.

As for the hotel maintenance, it's possible that they didn't know about the mirrors if they only work day shift and only see the wall during daylight. For your description, it is much more obvious when the bedroom is dark and the bathroom is lit. Not the usual situation when they are working. I tend to agree with the other PP that it is very unlikely, but still possible due to the circumstances. Many hotel maintenance crew do not work in the evenings unless called back to work for an emergency.

Entitled jackasses like OP who thinks the hotel should be held accountable because *gasp* you can see an outline of someone in the shower!
