See-through shower wall in the hotel - WWYD?

Anonymous
We made a mistake booking a hotel in Vegas without carefully reading the reviews. When we came here, it turned out that there is a see-through wall between the shower and a living space. When the lights are on in the shower, and the lights are off in the room, you can see a person in the shower. Under the normal day light, the wall looks like a mirror on both sides. Nobody in the hotel informed us about that trick, and we are a family of 2 parents and 2 teenagers, so it was a very unpleasant discovery to make. When I spoke to the receptionist, she sounded very aware about the issue and sent a couple of maintenance workers who covered the "mirror" with the towels on the room side.

It's an expensive hotel, and I feel very uneasy with the situation. Should the hotel be held accountable in any way? I just read their reviews on yelp, and people have been complaining about the issue for quite a while. I don't understand why they designed the wall that way and why they don't inform their guests, especially staying with the kids, about that.

Get over it. They put towels up. Who books an expensive hotel without reading reviews?

They put towels up after we made a discovery - in an inappropriate way that I would never imagine to happen. We stayed in dozens of hotels previously and have never seen anything like that before. The trip was spontaneous, so we just made sure the location is good, the total rating is high based on the high number of reviews, and booked it.

I've been to that hotel but it was just DH and I so it wasn't that big a deal. However, I could see how that would be a problem with older children around. I would have moved to another hotel.

Should the hotel be held accountable for making a design choice? No. You're overreacting because you're freaking out about the idea of nudity. Heaven forbid.

Absolutely, if it was just my husband and I, it wouldn't be a problem, but I strongly believe that they should inform the families in advance or don't allow families with kids in the hotel. Even if I stayed with my mom or my girlfriend, I would be quite upset to make that unexpected discovery.

Why not just move hotels? How does you getting a free ride at the hotel make it better? You want compensation for your pain and suffering?

Any reasonable who was twisted around thr axel would either deal with the horrors of the towels or simply move hotels.

Nudity should be by choice, not by some tricky design.

We discovered the issue late in the evening, when we were taking shower before going to bed - wasn't the best time to move to a different hotel. If they notified us in advance, we wouldn't have stayed here, of course.

Uh oh -- "we" were taking a shower? Now I get why you are so upset!

Well, good for your kids to know Mom and Dad have an active sex life! Sorry they had to learn that way....

No, that's not what I meant We were taking turns and didn't notice the issue when the first one was in the shower, but then turned the lights off and saw the one who was in the shower next. But yes, I can totally see how the situation you thought about could have happened to some other family.

Vegas is not for kids.

We booked a hotel in Vegas once and the bathroom was totally open. No door. Just a toilet seat around the corner from the bedroom. I think this was at Cesar's.
This was my husband and I but still, I don't even pee in front of my husband. I found it very off putting. But I hate most things about Vegas.

Aside from towels, you guys could simply take a short stroll when someone is showering. Sheesh, much ado about nothing.
