Obama did not prioritize helping Christians who were being murdered in horrifying ways over Muslims nor Muslims over Christians. Both groups were/are being murdered. We evaluate them individually, not based on their creed. And the US has been accepting Christian Syrian refugees and asylees for years in the standard 80k refugee visas we issue every year to people across the world. God does anyone on here actually know any actual facts about immigration in America? Jesus. |
Where are your actual stats? |
What stat do you want? |
1. How many Muslim Syrians have been allowed into the U.S.? 2. How many Christian Syrians have been allowed into the U.S.? |
Lots of data out there if you want to actually become informed about this issue instead of reciting talking points http://www.vox.com/world/2015/11/18/9756582/40-years-of-refugees http://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/refugees-and-asylees-united-states (---this one in particular points to the roughly 1500 Syrian refugees we've taken in this year and the 700 some asylum seekers who received status |
Religion is not a criteria in granting asylum or refugee status so is rarely cited in trends. They are seen as one people (because that is what they are). I have personally meet asylum seekers from Syria who are Christian (that means they're already here in case you didn't know the differences between asylum and refugee petitioners) through my work (which clearly is with immigrants). This type of data would be gathered anecdotally but I will look. |
Thank you PP because I just learned some things I did not know since I was more familiar with the uscis side and not the dos side. The answer to your questions can be found in both of the two links below. 1) More than 2000 2) 52 The reasons for this are related to how refugees are classified as refugees. Mainly they apply and are designated for rehoming by the UN. This part of the process has nothing to do with the US. We take recommendations from the UN as the first round of screening (they go through a more rigorous screening process when they go through our immigration system). Christian Syrians face discrimination even in the refugee camps and so are less likely to identify as a Christian or to even go to a camp in fear from that persecution. There is literally nothing the US could do about this problem as it takes place in another country and we do not take part in who is officially classified as a refugee. We can only process the people recommended to us by the UN http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/syrian-christians-are-greatest-peril-least-likely-be-admitted http://www.wrapsnet.org/Reports/InteractiveReporting/tabid/393/EnumType/Report/Default.aspx?ItemPath=/rpt_WebArrivalsReports/MX%20-%20Arrivals%20by%20Nationality%20and%20Religion |
| How much more horrendous was the killing of Christians in comparison to Yasidis, Sunni Muslims and now fellow members of the IS? Glenn Beck is a magnet for stupid. |
NP reading along. Going to skip CNSNews because they are right wing shills Going to wrapsnet.org I ran the report for Syria for the last couple of years: 1/1/2013 to present 2 Atheist 2 Bahai 4 Catholic 43 Christian 1 Greek Orthodox 3 Jehovah Witness 65 Moslem Looks like we've been taking Syrian Christians in. |
Pp here, I don't think you ran the report including all Muslim options, the numbers I cited came from the wraps net report I ran |
Thats a great question. America has a huge infrastructure problem schools bridges neighborhoods with building that look like third world. |
Look at the Visa entries. |
No, I ran the report selecting ALL religions. |
We have infrastructure problems because we have a lot of politicians who are following a shortsighted and selfish ideology that doesn't want to pay taxes or invest in our future. |
Here's a Wallstreet Journal link just up an hour ago. http://www.wsj.com/articles/istanbul-suicide-bomber-entered-country-as-syrian-refugee-officials-say-1452685264 |
