Hush on skin tone. Got it. Red Line attack-take 3

It doesn't matter the race, honestly. If a group of ANYONE (race/age/gender) are aggressively loud or physical in a small enclosed space, it's a reason for concern because it is NOT NORMAL to not constrain your energy, voice and mannerisms in a small physical space.

I have taught my children since infancy to look for patterns in everything, and that pattern of behavior is something to be wary of. If my toddlers are aware and follow social etiquette at their age, damn right it's something to be concerned about when in a small metal tube, someone, especially a group is acting this way.

+1. I think it's lazy to simply stereotype based on race (e.g., large group of black teens on metro). For example, I've had unpleasant encounters with groups of rowdy, preppy "bros" who've been drinking. I ride the red line to work--yes there are sometimes unruly teens, but I've also observed large groups of black teens simply chatting quietly while heading home after school. The same is true for Arab-appearing individuals, Hispanic men, etc.--observing behavior will give you a more accurate read of the situation than appearance alone.

Huh? Never heard about this, but since you brought it up, I am curious about the "skin shades" especially in the light of all the irate people across the county about white cop/black victims.

How can people help identify criminals and help the police apprehend them without a description?!

How would the race of the suspects help you identify them? "Oh, look, there's a [race][age][gender] person -- maybe they did it!"? DC is full of [race][age][gender] people, almost all of whom didn't do it.

This generation may be lost but to stop it in the future, if a woman is receiving government assistant she must be on birth control. If she gets pregnant she must have an abortion to continue to receive benefits. It sounds ugly, but it is the only way to stop creating environments & situations that will never improve.

Let's improve the future by taking away people's fundamental liberties!

Yes, if they want government assistance. If they had to live with the consequence of real poverty, the concept of cause & effect might be learned.

You are agreeing that it's a good idea to take away people's fundamental liberties because they are poor. Maybe think about what that says about you.

What does it say about me that I don't want people to struggle and have to receive handouts to have enough food on the table? If they want to be poor and go on to have 5 kids let them, but not while asking for help. Create situations where they can succeed, doesn't mean they need to be doctors, but in a position to be able to do some sort of work & take pride in caring for themselves. We need to make solutions to solve problems, not continue to support problems.

I fully support this. Depo shots as a condition of wic/food stamps/welfare/section 8 housing/fuel subsidies. 100% supporting yourself? Breed all you want.

Problem: people are poor.
Solution: don't let them have kids.

So if you are a woman, and you don't have enough food for your children, your choices are: allow long-lasting medication to be injected into your body, or go hungry.

Any plans for men who don't have enough food for their children? Perhaps anti-testosterone injections?

Have the attackers been arrested? This is really frightening.

Apparently, transit police initially detained three people who they believed were part of the group on the train. But because witnesses were unable to say definitively that any of those three people were the ones who actually beat the victim, the police released them. Links with assorted details about the attack and the police investigation are below.

Yup, kids are not puppies. If you can barely feed yourself you need to close your legs whoa. Whoa

Just guessing that if posters here get too much into race, yet another thread about the latest Metro attack will get deleted. Not sure what qualifies to have a thread deleted, but I think thoughtful and honest discussion is essential if we are ever to understand each other's problems/concerns.

As a side note, I don't get the race issues surrounding Freddy Gray considering half of the cops involved were themselves black. Perhaps the real truth, socioeconomic status, would not garner half as much media attention. I've seen my share poor non-black people victimized by police corruption.

It's the person's lack of wealth that makes some cops think they're entitled to behave unethically and illegally towards poor people. A cop knows he'll most certainly get disciplined and his ass sued if he misbehaves with a rich person. Most cops still don't expect to get unknowingly videotaped while abusing a poor person. "He said/she said" and the "code of blue" have been working in favor of the protection of bad cops for generations.

Poor people of every hue will continue to be victimized by bad cops until we address the real issue.

Look at this country. Look at this world. Poor people are the majority everywhere. Do y'all really think its a good idea to declare outright war against impoverished people?
You do know that's where y'all rationalization is leaning toward, right?
You telling me you think its a good idea to force people to take shots and pills to receive government assistance? Lol - that sounds like just the kind of spark that will end up igniting the powder keg...sounds like just the type of tyranny that folks see as "the last straw" and start a full-fledged revolution over.

C'mon, I think any PPs who read the deleted posts here and the deleted threads know why they were deleted, and it wasn't for merely identifying the perpetrators by race. It was for advocating that they be violently killed, use of the "n" word, sweeping generalizations disparaging all AAs, ridiculous fake jive talk, and other disgusting posts. It's like all the racists from Reston or Ohio or wherever they are sent out a call to one another to descend on these threads and start posting trollish nonsense.

So what do YOU see as a solution? We have bands of unruly children roaming the Metro, Georgetown and further out. We should just let rule the streets with no consequences? If I was poor certainly wouldn't go about having a bunch of children I could not pay for. The entitlement has to stop.
