Governors all across the country are refusing to take Syrian refugees

George Wallace would be so very proud. Someone needs to remind the knuckledraggers about the Refugee Act of 1980. No doubt an asshole like Greg Abbott is researching some half-baked theory upon which he can sue the Administration and politicize the issue as we move toward the election next November. The talking points about not being able to vet refugees also needs to be quashed. The proposal as it currently stands is to have a two year process for a limited number of individuals. We will be able to track social networks and contacts during that period. If there are any doubts then that person won't be admitted. So don't expect to see many single men in the 20's without college degrees and professional skills and experience.

Try again.

To be fair, they do have a naval base already in Syria. It's the only reason they care about projecting force. Any settlement has to accept the Russian base and their interests there, unless the Russians get dragged in Afghan style for multiple years. Then they might not care so much about the base anymore. Frankly, I'm willing to let them have their base, as we've been trying to turn the screws on them in Georgia and Ukraine (countries that legitimately want to join NATO b/c they're tired of Russian interference.)

Yes, so far it's believed they're all actually citizens of the European Union.

So this is how the second generation goes? Someone above posted that they are not assimilating and that they are possibly rebelling against their parents. This is an interesting supposition.

Assimilation is a two-way street. Many young French-Muslims are not welcome in France. They live segregated lives in remote suburbs of Paris. Crime-ridden high-rise communities. No jobs. Blatant racism. Laws prohibit burqas and niqabs. Children are served pork as the only option in schools. Nori me recruiting for radical Imams.

Sorry -- what evidence do you have that they're second generation? I mean, I realize people are just making shit up, but do you have evidence for that?

In terms of making shit up, it's the governors who are doing that. Once refugees have legal status, no governor can keep them out of his or her state. But Bobby Jindal keeps on talking, starring in the movie that's always playing inside his head.

Well given that they were EU citizens and angry young men between 18 and 30 (I could be reaching here) it's not that much of a stretch to believe they were second generation EU citizens.

In the 1970s, angry young men and women joined the Baader Meinhof, Red Brigades, Weathermen, and other left-wing urban guerrilla groups. Or they joined nationalist groups like the ETA, IRA, and AIM.

Radical jihadism is some odd mix of Baader Meinhof and the nationalist groups. Albeit, instead of the Soviets helping out to spread fear in the West, there's no super powerful country to help out the radical jihadists.

We are seeing a return to the 1970s! Bring out your disco balls.

They know the roads, traffic patterns, typical police patrols, security, etc. And they are everywhere--driving cabs in all major cities. They could be an army among us.

I will agree with this (the rest of your post is garbage)

Those most likely to commit attacks will be the alienated, first generation who grew up here and don't feel like they "fit in" to American society.
TBH, immigrant parents need to do a better of job of letting their first generation children assimilate. Those who try raise their kids as if they are back in the "old country" just tend to produce maladjusted misfits. They then rebel - one of which is the child turning to a violent strain of Islam.

No need to agree with me. Perhaps I'm being irrational. But there's a Muslim cab driver from Northern VA on the FBI's most wanted terrorist list. Perhaps he's the only one...but it really only takes one, right? (Especially if he's very familiar with the streets, travel patterns, traffic, police, security, etc.)

He was a Somali cab driver with ties to al-Shabaab, which is loosely affiliated with al-Qaeda. We took out the leader of al-Shabaab and the group has splintered. They are low on the scale of threats to the US and there is no indication that he was planning any terrorist activity here. The fact belie brother was tortured by Kuwatis in conjunction with being detained for questioning by the FBI after being added to the "no fly" list certainly isn't helpful.

Not a good situation when 10 percent of your citizenry comprises 70 percent of your prison population.

I just find this whole discussion a hoot because people don't read or even try to understand. Then a lot of people blame the Obama administration for this. Here is a tip - the "law" that creates the USA asulym framework is legislation passed by Congress in 1980. Well, guess what? The GOP now controls Congress. Instead of pontificating from on high and blaming the POTUS, lean on your damn Congressman or Congresswoman to change the law. Sure, POTUS will veto, but at least you would have done something. SMH.

Obama is not legally allowed to confer citizenship on anyone unilaterally.

Read the statute - taking in refugees is NOT conferring citizenship on them.

How many cell phones have you seen each time? Did you ask to look in the trunk to check for explosives? Did you know the FBI and others are monitoring suspected bad guys?
