We are shoes off and don’t ask cleaners, plumbers, electricians, etc to take shoes off unless they are just walking through for an estimate. When working they need to be able to protect their feet and also not slip. If I’m motivated I do a quick mop after they leave. |
I talked to mine about it from the beginning and she has these slippers she uses in homes she cleans. She has them for her helpers, too. |
I keep a bulk box of those non-slip shoe covers for any contractors that come in. |
I have those, but I don't always ask them to wear them if they will be climbing ladders and looking in the attic and stuff like that. Sometimes I leave the box out and contractors see them and offer to slip them on, which I prefer! |
So, not the booties? Do you have a link? |
Same with me. |
My cleaner always works in her bare feet |
My cleaner did her first couple of days in socks but for the last year she has worked barefoot |
Lincoln freed the slaves. Jesus what is next.

No. She brings another pair to change into.

This is why I don't have cleaners. We have carpet upstairs. It makes no sense to have someone bring dirt into my home and pay them to do it! The US culture is very gross. |
I didn’t read the whole thread but the topic and question from OP reminded me immediately of the time (not long ago) that I was working for a serving/catering (not really catering as we did not provided food, only served, bussed, clean up after) for well off people in DC, MD and VA.
Anyway, I was hired to work in this child’s birthday party in NW DC (Maret parents) and once I arrived their housekeeper asked me to take my shoes off - I said I couldn’t as I needed it to work. The housekeeper brought in the owner of the house (child’s mother) and the mother actually took a while considering before letting me in. Come on, I needed to get in and out of the house as guests were inside and in the yard/pool area and you honestly expect a server to work barefoot? Or to take the time to take put on shoes when needing to go outside and taking them off when coming back? Plus, I had TOMS on, not even socks and all the guests were wearing shoes (in and out of the house). Foreigners who come from backwater countries where the “help” is cheap and treated like third class citizens, are the worst to deal with in this type of job. |
It's always bare feet my my cleaning lady |
