Does your housekeeper wear his/her regular shoes when cleaning your house?

Contractors and service people coming into people's houses never know what they might step on, so it's either shoe covers or shoes.

Surely the test of a competent cleaner is if they at least offer to remove their shoes when the first come to your house. We remove shoes as do guests and workmen. Therefore it follows that someone who is coming to clean your house does. We provide slippers for the cleaner to wear. If a prospective cleaner doesn't know the basic courtesies then we don't employ them. If others don't mind what their cleaners do then thats really irrelevant to what we do

The cleaners' own slippers, or slippers that other people have worn?

It's not at all safe for your cleaner to work in socks or slippers. It's exploitative to ask them to take risks with their health to pander to your fears.

I think your maid should wear paper booties while she cleans your home. It just is the respectful thing to do.

However if she is not leaving any mud or dirt on your carpets and floors, I would just let it go.

Its not exploitative to ask your family to wear slippers in the house is it? If its good enough for your family then surely its good enough for an employee. Thankfully we live in an area where poeple do take shoes off and respect everyones property and wishes.

Obviously we don't share slippers. I wouldn't wear someone else slippers and wouldn't expect someone else to do the same.

It's a dangerous thing to do. But I suppose you don't care.

So you make your plumber or painter work in slippers? What area do you live in that this is standard practice?

Why can't the cleaning lady slip into house tennis shoes that weren't ever worn outside? I think it's unsafe to not wear shoes, and some need the support.

My mom isn't a cleaning lady, but she can't take off her shoes when she enters someone's home. She has heel spurs and gets pains up her legs if her shoes aren't supportive.

I need more information about these slippers. Do they get to take them home afterwards? Are they cleaned in between uses? I don't want to put my feet into someone else's slippers. Do you just have an endless supply of slippers for every random plumber or cleaner who comes to your house? Where do you store all these slippers?

So many slipper questions!
