I know friends, who are from different cultures, want to dress "sexy" for their husbands all the time. Sort of like the anti-burka.

because they're small so they want to look taller?

because they're small so heels don't hurt as bad bigger women?

because they're asian they don't dress like white women?

get it now?

what's with large white women who wear yoga pants (used to be tennis skirts) who were not playing tennis nor doing yoga? i don't get it, must be cultural. YES of course it's cultural, dimwit.

btw can you count in one hand how many asian women you'd ever seen before moving here?

white woman here. my comfort is worth more than what anyone else says.I would never sacrifice my own personal comfort for something as silly as wearing heels all the time . Ridiculous. You sound like the dimwit.

Not to be a total bitch but Asians do have a long history of foot binding

So they definitely seem okay with completely fucking up their feet and being in pain in the name of "fashion"

I used to post on a fashion forum, and these women did not believe in leaving the house in anything less than a four inch heel, no matter what. They shunned most flats (unless they were designer, think $500 Charlotte Olympias), and completely trashed women wearing Uggs, flip flops, or any non designer "comfortable" shoes. They even wore wedge sneakers!

Honestly, they paid upwards of $500 per pair, and so yes, they were going to wear them to amusement parks, Costco, PTA meetings, wherever they could. They taped their toes, popped pain meds and came up with inventive techniques to make the shoes slightly more comfortable. The techniques never worked, but that never stopped them from trying.

Long story short, they are most likely fashionistas who are trying to impress other fashionistas. You will never get it, because you're not part of that life.

Bahaha. No fashionistas are shopping at Costco. And lucite stripper heels do not cost $500 a pair. More like $20

It's doable but can be dangerous. If you have kids like mine who decide that they want to be "uppy now! uppy now!" and dash into your arms when you least expect it, you realize how easy it is to twist an ankle. I hoped this post could help some women learn how unsteady you really can be when trying to run after your kid .

Do you think that women who wear high heels don't know what it's like to wear high heels?

+ 1. I find it silly that OP "feels bad" for them. OP- it seems like you are not comfortable in heels or are unsteady. Is that accurate?

I wear heels everywhere except the gym and the beach. I'm short and I hate not being in heels, it's just part of me feeling put together. I don't wear heels that hurt my feet and I've never fallen. Not even when holding an infant or running after toddler. Oddly enough, my feet actually hurt if I wear sneakers or flip flops too long.

You sound very bright! Report back in your 50s. Lets see what you think about heels then.

Really? Insulting my intelligence because of my choice in shoes? You must not have read the part of my post that says I don't wear uncomfortable shoes. If you get quality shoes that fit well, you can avoid a lot of issues.

BTW...my grandmother is 90 and still wears heels a few times a week. She seems to be doing just fine.

Enjoy your collection of Danskos.

wearing heels ALL the time does say something about your intelligence. reads bimbo to me.

It's also funny because heels are pretty much out now. Flats have been having their moment for years now, and now pairing sneakers with your outfit is considered to be the height of fashion. For a while it was those Isabel Marant sneakers witha lift in them, now it's just regular (high end, obvi) sneakers.

So I have to laugh when I see women tottering around in heels. It just seems so.... 1970s Vanna White.

It makes me wonder, do they know it’s not good for their feet, spine and posture?? Some may, some may not. Some will probably go with the “no pain no gain” theory, but I choose comfort above all else!

It's funny, cause they are screwing up their feet so much now. They don't realize how nasty and broken their feet will look later.

Not to mention, it's a dated look nowadays...

I'm sure you're also not the type to wear sexy but perhaps uncomfortable undies for your husband. Granny panties all the way, amirite?

Ummm no. Totally wrong. BTW, I married a guy who doesn't want me to wear uncomfortable underwear or high heels! He's great!

stripper heels were meant for strippers.

Fashionistas need toilet paper, paper towels, and a $1.50 hot dog combo just as much as any other girl. ?

Lucky you!

And to the nasty PP, plenty of dudes don't have a problem getting an erection even if their DW isnt wearing little baby thongs and high heels. And if yours does, well.... sucks for you!

Why not? They need toilet paper, and rotisserie chicken just like the rest of us.

No, Asians do not. CHINESE has a long history of foot binding. There are many different countries in Asia. Asia is a big continent. "Asian" is not a synonym for "Chinese".

Well, the Ashley Madison list did just come out, maybe they are trying to be sexy for their man even in Costco?
Anonymous
Maybe they had read the DCUM PSA about people stealing fancy flip-flops at water parks and figured they'd be safe if they wore their stripper heels??

The PP here; I did suggest they "want to look sexy." I have seen plenty of asian women of all sorts of nationalities before moving here--never once have I seen one wearing lucite stripper heels who wasn't handing out cards for a strip club. Just not your usual everyday, go to the store attire. But, I have observed that many people here in this large metro area live in "cultural bubbles" so it is not as unusual. As my former Korean neighbor in another state told me, "we're the brave Koreans, we moved out of the DC area."
