Turkish. People are always forgetting that most of Turkey is in Asia.

snort. I'm still chuckling over this one.

Op here : I just find it silly and feel bad for them. I am not sure why I care about this.

It's doable but can be dangerous. If you have kids like mine who decide that they want to be "uppy now! uppy now!" and dash into your arms when you least expect it, you realize how easy it is to twist an ankle. I hoped this post could help some women learn how unsteady you really can be when trying to run after your kid .

Do you think that women who wear high heels don't know what it's like to wear high heels?

Plus one op! I have lawyers who wear these in my conservative trade association. Peep toe platform strappy shoes I saw in 1998 at a dc strip club. Now they are main stream.

I heard prostitutes were the first to shave their legs too...

They're probably mail order brides.

My husband's favorite store is Costco, and now I know why.

OP,

I used to post on a fashion forum, and these women did not believe in leaving the house in anything less than a four inch heel, no matter what. They shunned most flats (unless they were designer, think $500 Charlotte Olympias), and completely trashed women wearing Uggs, flip flops, or any non designer "comfortable" shoes. They even wore wedge sneakers!

Honestly, they paid upwards of $500 per pair, and so yes, they were going to wear them to amusement parks, Costco, PTA meetings, wherever they could. They taped their toes, popped pain meds and came up with inventive techniques to make the shoes slightly more comfortable. The techniques never worked, but that never stopped them from trying.

Long story short, they are most likely fashionistas who are trying to impress other fashionistas. You will never get it, because you're not part of that life.

+ 1. I find it silly that OP "feels bad" for them. OP- it seems like you are not comfortable in heels or are unsteady. Is that accurate?

I wear heels everywhere except the gym and the beach. I'm short and I hate not being in heels, it's just part of me feeling put together. I don't wear heels that hurt my feet and I've never fallen. Not even when holding an infant or running after toddler. Oddly enough, my feet actually hurt if I wear sneakers or flip flops too long.

It was just funny that I saw three Asian women in the same store/same day, wearing stripper heels while out in public doing ordinary things. They all had 2-3 very young children and were all married to American white men. Store was packed with people and HUGE carts . This was my first time shopping at Costo BTW. I was honestly pretty surprised over this. I'm a preschool teacher so always have childrens safety of my mind.

I see lots of Russians and Eastern European women in stripped heels in inappropriate places--parks, sidelines of soccer games, etc.

I guess that would depend on your definition. I don't wear shoes with clear plastic heels. Lol. I usually wear 3" pumps to the office. Evenings, weekends and date nights are usually 4"inch heels.

Really? Insulting my intelligence because of my choice in shoes? You must not have read the part of my post that says I don't wear uncomfortable shoes. If you get quality shoes that fit well, you can avoid a lot of issues.

BTW...my grandmother is 90 and still wears heels a few times a week. She seems to be doing just fine.

Enjoy your collection of Danskos.
