First day drop off -- MD tags

so what if you see NY or PA or NC tags

I don't think anyone is particularly fired up about anything.

But I'm neither well off nor white and I would report a cheater every time.

pk3 and pk4 programs have waiting lists that are hundreds of families long. All over DC; I doubt all those families are white and well off

None of their business. Maybe it is a babysitter or relative.

As a taxpayer, it is my business.

As a taxpayer, it's your business to ensure YOUR taxes are paid-not police everyone else.

As the police say, PP, "if you see something, say something."

Right, but they're referring to actual indisputable CRIMES. I know what a purse snatching looks like...or a shooting...stabbing...assault.

OP does not know if what she saw was actual residency fraud or just people with MD tags dropping off students.

And she'll never come back and admit that she was wrong. That it was an aunt dropping off her neices and nephews or that the family does live in DC.

I'm not positive, but I think that there are multiple posters who people are conflating together.

If I read this correctly, OP is different from the parent at 2R and different from the 60/40 parent.

Yes.

In any case, OP needs a little more info before reporting suspected residency fraud, including the child's name.

No, you have missed the point of see something/say something, entirely. It was not about reporting crimes obviously in progress. People don't need a PSA for that.

It was originally about reporting unattended bags on the NYC subway system and in airports, to prevent terrorist bomb attacks. The whole point is, the bag is probably innocently forgotten. But you don't know for sure, so report it, and let the authorities deal with it. If it is innocent, no harm done.

Same with the MD tags. It is probably innocent, but what if it isn't? better to report it and let the authorities deal with it. That was the point of the analogy to "if you see something, say something".

Plus, in the case of the bags, it's probably 1 bomb for every 100,000 or more innocently forgotten bags, but for the residency cheaters, I'd say you have better odds of catching someone when you report something suspicious.

Are you really trying to compare a terrorist attack that could kill hundreds to thousands of innocent people to out of state tags?

Mmkay.

Folks with nothing else better to do.

The custodial parent in a divorce must have an in bound residence to register a student. At Wilson they are grilling parents--You have to show your divorce decree as proof. Additionally, the parent who originally enrolled the child in school must be PRESENT at the time you are registering your kid--even if circumstances have changed. In this way they avoid getting in the middle of a battle between parents.

They mean business--I saw them doing this. There are cameras everywhere to record plates and interactions with parents. I've never seen them be so strict.
