OP - Have you looked at guys in or getting out of the military? My sense from dating in the 40s/50s scene is that there is good swath of solid, together, fairly worldly AA guys retiring or coming back to DC after being posted abroad for awhile. I've met them more speed dating or other single mingle type event than online.
