Prospective Ludlow Taylor Parent

So let's take a look at crime stats via the MPD Crime mapping tool. Using Brent as a search point, there have been a total of six (6) violent crimes within 1000 feet of the school over the past year, all of which were robberies not involving a gun. By way of comparison, have been 18 robberies within 1000 feet of LT, five (5) of which involved a gun. To boot, there have been four four (4) assaults with a dangerous weapon excluding gun, plus another assault with a dangerous weapon involving a gun, and a homicide.

I agree. I spend time on H street and give local businesses support. However these are serious issues. I am not going to over pay for a home in an area where street crime is still a large presence. I actually find it mind boggling that people with small children would spend so much money on a home in Stanton Park.

You're a moron. There is no "Stanton Park" neighborhood. If someone were to say that they live in Stanton Park, that would mean they sleep on playground equipment. It is not a neighborhood. The Hill Historic District goes up to F and over to 12th NE.

I think you are wrong. There was an open house sign on the teeter totter just this past Sunday.

PP better tell the Stanton Park Neighborhood Association, not to mention the WaPo.

Epic fail.

Oh yeah, DCPS also seems to think Stanton Park is as much a neighborhood as NoMa and Kingman Park.

So who's the moron?

Did you read the article before posting it? It says the Stanton Park Neighborhood Association hasn't existed for a long time. Also, I've lived in the area for 10 years and have never, ever heard anyone say they live in Stanton Park as opposed to Capitol Hill. I think the people who live at 8th and East Cap would think you were crazy telling them they live in Stanton Park.

Not the person who called you a moron---although you are proving it true---but are you honestly saying that if someone told you they lived in Union Station you wouldn't think they meant the train station? That DCPS page seems to be clearly using those places as points of reference not as actual neighborhoods.

People living in Kingman Park, Hill East, and North Lincoln Park also like to say that their neighborhoods are part of Capitol Hill. Realtors love it. Eighth and E Capitol could properly be considered part of Lincoln Park or even "Eastern Market."

While the inclusion of Union Station is admittedly unusual, your point of reference interpretation does not withstand scrutiny. First, Kimgman Park is clearly a neighborhood, not just a point of reference. The same is true of NoMa, which has its own BID. And then there's this:

http://dme.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dme/publication/attachments/Appendix%20A_%20DCPS%20and%20Charter%20Schools%20by%20Neighborhood%20Cluster.pdf

Which other neighborhoods in the identified clusters are merely points of reference?

You can't fix stupid.

Well a neighborhood boundary debate is a refreshing change from the normal debates on here. I am also amused by adults calling each other morons and stupid...a nice change from "racist."

This is one of the stupider arguments I've seen on DCUM, and that is really saying something.

Yes, agreed. How did we devolve into this?

Stanton Park

I live in the Peabody Boundary (Stanton Park), but for elementary school my kids have to go to Watkins instead of Ludlow or Maury, to which I could actually walk. This doesn't make sense. The Peabody boundary should be integrated into either Ludlow or Maury. Any thoughts?
Anonymous
Peabody should feed to LT (but that's not necessary since they aren't overfull) or Brent. Maury is as far away as Watkins for most of Stanton Park.
