Maybe, people are warning you not to be too Pollyannish, 14;41, which is totally how you are presenting here.
Seriously? You think the Hill is the safest and most comfortable place in DC? You also, apparently, think it will be an unchangeable utopia somehow divorced from the rest of the city? Interesting. Also, it is sort of cute that you have no perspective whatsoever about any neighborhoods outside what you define as the Hill. What you don't understand is this lack of perspective makes you look very very bad. |
Whoa, this poster definitely has an ax to grind with the Hill. Poor baby, did someone honk at you when you were on East Capitol Street because you were going to slow?
Really? Are you serious? The PP said that the Hill was the place she/he felt most comfortable. Are you challenging how that poster feels? Get off of your high horse - you do not know how anyone feels but yourself. You seem very angry - you need to examine why. |
I'm the PP with whom you are responding. I should probably just ignore this post since you are proving yourself to be extremely ignorant. YES, I feel safer and more comfortable where I live than in other parts of the city. I don't know why that's so hard for you to understand... especially since I broke it down for you. Now, I see you're just one of those people who thinks you're better than everyone else. You seriously need to reality check. Don't come to my neighborhood - you will likely be a target. I can tell by reading your out-of-touch comments. |
Or to bad mouth a local school where lots of families are genuinely happy. |
| Does the principal return emails? |
Not sure about email, but I accidentally saw her going to work this past Sunday, so I am guessing she is pretty busy. I would not be surprised if she did not answer to emails that promptly, esp. from parents of children not yet enrolled. |
| How exactly did you "accidentally" see her? |
| She has always responded to my emails - not always as quickly as I am used to but I think we are all way to used to getting immediate responses. |
| What is the email in regards to? If it is something that can be answered through another source (DCPS website, enrollment packet, parent handbook-if you are a current parent, etc.) you probably will not get a response. |

I just saw a stat on that said there are 28 homeless children currently enrolled at LT.
I feel like an asshole for even having the thought (so, ergo I go voice it on DCUM like an even bigger asshole) but this feels high. Is there a shelter in-bounds for LT? Perhaps I'm a sheltered jerk for not realizing how prevalent homelessness can be, but that's 12% of the student enrollment! Is it possible MD residents are gaming the system this way? |
where did you see that stat? |
According to the below, it's more like 10%. But I think this stat is conservative. It got brought up on the Peabody Dump the Cluster DCUM discussion. http://www.dc-aya.org/sites/default/files/content/...t%20Enrollment%20in%20DCPS.pdf |
Oops, try this: http://www.dc-aya.org/sites/default/files/content/Homeless%20Student%20Enrollment%20in%20DCPS.pdf |
| LT used to be full of homeless children circa 2000, before they moved them out to DC General. |
I was taking a stroll with my kid and saw her go in. She said hi to me and my kid because my kid (a toddler) ran to the door hoping to get in as well, thinking it was again occasion for the 'spring party' with bouncy house he had experienced about 3 weeks ago. |
