We dont know that it fell from that high. If indeed it is in the ocean it could have fallen from much lower. At this point we dont know anything since air traffic control lost contact and we dont have the black box. This is why we NEED to find this plane. |
The plane had 6-7 hours worth of fuel. One theory is that it inadvertently went off course so the search parties may be looking in the wrong areas. |
I need a report that the plane tried to turn around. |
If it turned around, wouldn't the pilots send out a message that that was what they were doing? |
It's not just from news stations who are trying to sell ratings. This is from a public-private security partnership with the FBI: Information related to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 that was operating from KUL to PEK on 7 March 2014: As of this report, the location of the missing aircraft has not been confirmed. While it is perhaps too early to speculate, there are certain factors that are raising concern amongst our analysts. These include: -The excellent safety record of the Boeing 777-200. -The very good safety record of Malaysia Airlines. -The loss of the aircraft on radar at cruising altitude - the safest point of flight. -The immediate loss of radio contact with the aircraft. -The fact that no distress signal was received from the aircraft. -Open source reporting that two passengers on the flight were using passports (Austria and Italy) that were reported stolen within the past two years in Thailand. Some considerations: -The probability of two passports stolen at different times (1 year apart) appearing on the same flight are highly coincidental. (There exists the possibility that additional stolen passports may be linked to the flight). -Data of both stolen passports (Austrian and Italian), would have been listed in the Interpol Database and would have been "flagged." -Both passports would have required entry Visas for China prior to departure. -There is little history of illegal migration trends from Malaysia to China thereby raising the question of the motivation behind impostors traveling on stolen passports. -There have been arrests related to stolen Western Passports with connections to Thailand and Al Qaida - see link -There have been a number of security-related incidents at KUL airport in the past few years. -The recent "uptick" in terrorist activity by the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (linked to Al Qaida) against China. Again, while it may be too early to speculate, we must consider that there may be a security-related issue to flight MH370. For now, our thoughts and prayers are with the passengers, their families and friends affected by the incident related to MH370. |
Now they are reporting that the plane may have disintegrated mid air which would explain the lack of debris. |
Because they had tickets through to Western Europe and EU passports, they weren't required to have a visa from China. |
Reminded me of the Air France flight from Rio to Paris that just "disappeared" for a few days I think, until they found debris on the ocean. I think it took them YEARS to find the black box. It is so unsettling.

Great. I'm reading this on my flight layover. |
I thought I read somewhere that everyone on the flight had Chinese visas. |
Yep. That was discussed earlier in this thread. |
Stop reading now! Seriously. Signed, Former Frequent Flyer now Phobic Flyer (since 9/11/01) |
I hate to be crass, but no, sadly, anyone who survived the crash is now dead. The only need to find the plane is to recover bodies and the wreck so they can figure out what the heck happened. A few people survived the initial Lockerbie crash, but died very soon after. This plane went into the water, and the probability of anyone surviving crash/explosion or whatever happened, plus having the strength to get to the surface and tread water for over 24 hours is slim. It's an all around tragedy. |
