Why is it okay for your dog to shit in my yard?

What I don't understand is why these dog people don't just have their dogs poop in their own yards--why do they deliberately take them out to poop on someone else's property? It's gross even if they try to pick it up.

How about this - my neighbor's dog runs wild, into my yard and then into my HOUSE if I am not careful about keeping the door closed (my kids are in and out all day).

Some people live in apartments and don't have a yard!

So let them poop in YOUR house or when outside be respectful to others property. Why is this such a difficult concept?

Did this dog, by any chance, recently jump into your swimming pool, too? If so, I know who you are, and I'm sorry (again) for my dog's behavior.

I think it's irresponsible to own a dog if you don't have a yard.

I also hate when people let their dogs use my yard as a toilet. We have minuscule yards (like, 10 ft from sidewalk to front door), and lots of grassy common space. Even when they clean it up, the smell lingers a long time. If I lived on a half acre, and they were doing it down by the street, I wouldn't care, but this is an affront. To my front!

Will mothballs hurt my lawn? it looks terrible already, probably from all the shit and pee....I don't want to make it worse.

Wow, I can't even imagine someone doing this. I have a little fence (waist high) around my front yard, so this is never an issue. I would be appalled if someone let their dog crap in my yard, and would let them know. It is my property, and I don't want dog crap on it, regardless of whether the person makes an effort to pick it up afterwards.

Why not put a sign on your lawn saying something like ... "Caution, grass treated with noxious chemical fertilizer" And get some of those little orange flags that landscapers use after they put down fertilizer. Sprinkle some baking soda around for effect.

I am in complete agreement about the poop and it drives my husband insane. He has made up hot pepper spray with super hot peppers-again dogs won't sniff or walk on it because it burns-but won't cause any real harm. It also keeps the crazy squirrels away from our garden but doesn't harm the plants. You have to spray frequently especially after rain. Organic dog & squirrel repellant.

My little sister has a seeing eye dog and it has drastically improved her quality of life. Just yesterday I went to the library and saw that they had a dog there for the kids to read to. Dogs have probably brought more joy to people's lives than you have.

I'm imagining them both pooping in a carefully choreographed insult to OP.

Laughed til I cried! Thanks, PP!
