traumatized about my height

Where do all you 6' women live? I'm 5'9 and always feel like I am the tallest (I live in Bethesda). It is very rare that I have to "look up" in conversation with another woman, and so it always feels strange when I have to.

I'm the OP and I live in Mexico and I have to look down, sometimes, as if we were in high school my friends start talking about the importance of wearing heels,, I hate that so much

But to echo what another PP said, honey, you're already tall. An inch or two of heel isnt going to make you shorter. However it will make your outfit look more pulled together and might make you feel more confident.

Also flip the script on short chicks being cute, whatever you think. When you go out with your friends you know who people see? Your hot self. You don't blend into the crowd. Also another added bonus is that men with serious insecurity issues won't talk to you so it's easier to weed them out.

Start slow with the shoes. Go to Zappos where you can choose shoes by height. Get a pair that has a one inch heel and see how that goes. Then try a pair with two inch. I will be honest that I rarely wear higher than 2.5 inch heels but that is leftover insecurity.

I never wanted to date guys who were shorter than me but ended up marrying someone 5'10". And he loves when I wear heels!

Hello! That's a ver good idea, I wore one inch once and it didn¿t make a difference, but I did feel good and everybody made compliments about my legs. =) I hope to find heels that short here.

Thank you.

haha people also ask me if I want to play basketball or voleyball I'm like o.O I'm super unathetic too hahaha

Pretty sure traumatized is the wrong word. Op I hope as you get older you can come to terms with who you are. I am 5'8", none of my friends are shorter. In fact some are 6' and the rock it. Heels and all. Own it and get over it

I know a woman who is 5'11", slender with a model physique. I was surprised when she told me she was 5'11" because she looked more like 5'8" to me. Then I looked at her posture. She always sat on the floor (this was a baby and mom class) with her legs tucked under her like the way you would sit on the floor if you were wearing a skirt. And she wore super flat shoes. She didn't slouch but she had a delicate posture which made her appear petite. It was only when I stood next to her that I realized how tall she was. I think she was self conscious about her height for no reason. People always complimented her on her clothes because she wore them so well. I guess that's why models are tall.

I am 6'0 tall and I love it. I don't remember ever disliking it. Maybe I just like attention, lol. Not that it was always positive and I did go through some awkwardness in high school, but later I had no problem with having men attracted to me. I had as much male attention as I wanted, and I love clothes and think I look good. I wear heels too. I'm not saying everyone thinks I look good, or that all men are attracted to me of course...but I think I look good so who cares? And I don't say disparaging things about shorter women because for one thing most women are shorter and for another I don't think attractiveness is determined by height at all. We all have characteristics about our looks that some people will like, and others won't. That's life. I could post a picture of a woman on here that I thought was definitely beautiful and a bunch of you would tell me that you don't think she's anything special.

But I've always liked being tall. Just embrace who you are!

These are the same women who refer to their average-height friends as short (and they mean that as an insult). There are a lot more "Bea Arthur" tall ladies in this town than there are "Cindy Crawford" types, so pipe down tall gals.

projecting much?

That model-esque confidence is what makes them look even better than a hater like you.

No, I'm talking about a friend who constantly puts down average height women by calling them short as an insult. Being tall doesn't make this friend pretty and her mean spirited words are just mean. I'm talking about someone who never gets off the height topic. We're out at events and she targets pretty women and insults them as short -- when they are lovely. I get that it is about her insecurity, but still. Yeah, when someone is that mean, I can't help notice that, while tall, she's no supermodel. As for confident, nope.

So, all that to say yes, in fact you are projecting.

loooooool agree

Your comment is very intelligent. Thank you so much and I hope to have that excitement when I talk about my height. Thank you so much.

Height, like age, is only a number. I have the opposite problem - I am only 5' tall! Sure there are days I wish I were taller, especially when shopping for clothes, but for the most part I don't notice it. My advice: Always have good posture. Many tall women inadvertently slouch or stoop to compensate for their height, and feel the ill affects of lifelong poor posture later on in life. FYI my husband is 6'-0" tall - go figure!
