You forgot: "and ohbytheway, since WE don't think you're married, even though you are by the law of the land, your partner doesn't get to come on our health plan, etc." Which I would also suggest falls into the "tough shit" category. |
Since when would churches be forced to marry gay couples? |
I don't know how old you are, but during the 80s, 90s and 2000s, all the preachers politicized from the pulpit. Maybe you have elective amnesia. How do you think the Falwells, Robertsons and now Billy Grahmam's son made their mark. Heck, the PTL Jessica Simpson or Hahn preacher preached his televised services and politics were always mingled in the sermon. And the list goes on. |
Haven't read through this thread yet but I'm sure someone has pointed out that you are complaining about liberals stereotyping and being intolerant by heavy duty stereotyping of and intolerance towards liberals! Physician, heal thyself! |
I am pro-choice, meaning that each individual makes her own decision. If you oppose it, do not have one. I am not forcing you to have one. In your world, you would limit by freedom by preventing from having one. And, in today's Republican world, you want to prevent me from using contraceptives. In my world, it is your choice. |

In civil society, a particular religious view should NOT be the basis for public policy. Public policy should be based on values that have their basis independent of religion. Otherwise, it is simply the majority religious dogma that gets written into law. |
this
thread is epic! oh and everyone knows there are no conservatives in this forum, only other hater liberals who flame others that arent lib enough |
Yeah, like you. Clearly you are a feminist, pro-choice liberal. |

No, she did not say that at all. She said that Christians and Catholics are not the same thing. She clearly doesn't want her denomination to be lumped in with Catholics because she believes they do not deserve the same criticism. Truthfully I think the OP is trying to make this an anti-Christian thing but it is clear that one Church is at the center of the recent debates. [On the off-chance someone will respond--thought I'd fix the tags.] |
