I like that each school is unique but it seems they could try to use consistent methods for things like this.

What was the NNAT score from last year?
In years past, it seemed as though many kids had an NNAT score about 10 points higher than their cogat. I am wondering if that trend is working the other way around with the new form of the cogat test.

nnat 150 and cogat composite 150

WOW!!!
Don't get me wrong.. just curious.. did u do any coaching for your kid?

Very high scores! Congrats!!
Did you enroll your child in any coaching class?

I seriously doubt anyone is going to admit coaching their kid. But keep in mind, this is an anonymous forum. Take scores with a grain of salt.

I'm not at Haycock, but I would be a bit upset if the school was lagging behind others -- how are you supposed to have time to meet the 3 February deadline?

I am new to the forum. Got Cogat in Tuesday Folder. Cogat and nnat in 99th percentile. Does anyone know whether they look at all the scores or only one? The referral form that school completes (saw it in the parent packet) only asks to fill out the best of one score from all 4 areas (NNAT and one of the Cogat subcategories). I wish the AAP team could see all my child's scores, as they are consistent. Did not do any coaching and we are pleased with the result.

If you're talking about the screening summary sheet from the parent packet, I am seeing an area where you enter the NNAT score and all 3 subscores of the cogat.

Anyone got a letter from Centre Ridge? DC got scores yesterday but no letter. Composite Cogat is 143.

Yes, in the screening summary sheet, if you look carefully it says " Enter highest subscores from any one administration of Cogat and/or NNAT". My child has a new teacher, so I worry that she would not know how to score on gbrs and would unintentionally give a low gbrs. She gave all the good students a G, saying that O is only given later in the year, and she only starts with a G to start the year. Therefore my child also got all G's in the first quarter, although it was all O's last year.

parents don't fill out the summary sheet or the GBRs form. Those are filled out by school, and of course the committee will see all the cogat scores. parents only fill out the parent questionaire.

That means from one occurance that the test was given. Meaning, if the kid took the test more than once, don't mix and match the scores...they all have to be from one test date.

And many teachers are hesitant to give O's in the beginning of the year, and I am sure that the committee knows of this. New teachers are instructed on how to complete the GBRS and it is not completed by them alone. The principal and AART also weigh in heavily in the score.

Thanks a lot for your responses. Very much appreciate it.

At our school, second grade teachers start the year hesitant to give out "G"s and give out mostly "S"s, so you're lucky. They only give an S in achievement for above grade level work and they say, since they don't teach anything above grade level in social studies, science or health, you can't get above an S in those subjects. (Well, unless you somehow know to ask for special at-home extra projects to do.). They told parents at back-to-school night this was the policy throughout the county - I guess not! Why does all this stuff seem so random and subjective????
