It's preschool. Chill. Find a nice Montessori or other low key program -- your child will be the better for it.

OP here....We secured a spot at a wonderful christian school that offered a foreign language component in MD for PK4, and we are still waiting news from DC charter schools (immersion). We are extremely happy with our choices for the upcoming school year, and we will try the Big 3's again next year for K.

I think for pre-k in particular, any of the schools mentioned could be fully enrolled -- but PPs might have more info!

Try Primary Day - it's across the street from Holton-Arms on River Road.

I agree with the post about Montessori. Although they like you to stay for three years, it's a great place to start. You may even find you like it. Your child may also have a great chance at K after Montessori. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Apparently St. Patricks (which is first rate) has a few openings. Details are on website. Go for it!

I find it amazing that OP managed to pick four of the hardest admits in the city without knowing they were competitive.

I also find it amazing that so many people seem to think a school is an easy admit just because it's in the suburbs. People - Concord Hill, Primary Day and 'the montessoris,' as one person put it, are very competitive and run long waitlists.

In fact none of the schools listed is an automatic yes.

OP here....I knew the schools were competitive! I was trying to state that as a new parent and new to this process, I should have applied at additional schools and a range of schools. But it all worked out for me..thanks!
