CHDS is not the most competitive school in the area. Almost every year they have spaces in preK and K after April 1. So the fact that your daughter was rejected and not WL-isted suggests either she was too young for their preK program or something else.
|
Not really true. Last year they never even went to the waitlist for PreK. |
|
What are you looking for in a program?
You have WIS and CHDS which I see as 2 very different schools. I think if you are able to focus a bit you might get some better insight from people. Also are you looking at charters? |
|
Like everyone else, I would suggest The British School. Also, how about Metropolitan or St. Columba's?
|
There are sometimes spaces in the later grades after April 1 but Prek and K fill through the normal admissions process. |
| Try Lowell they have a wonderful LS! |
Not really...WIS was our 1st choice, but secondary languages/language immersion is very high on our list. CHDS offers 1/2 year Spanish, 1/2 year French instruction. I applied at LAMB as well. So, my focus Is not really scattered. |
We had 90+ WPPSI, good playdates, very engaging child...I just think we lucked out! I am calling both WIS and CHDS tomorrow to schedule phone conferences to discuss. |
I will be contacting Lowell and The British School-- |
I've never advocated this before, and generally I am against the whole "educational consultant" idea, but in your case, it might be worth it to see why your DC was shut out especially given the WPPSI score. The ADs might not be frank with you as they don't really have an incentive to be completely honest if their assessment of your application was less than stellar. For e.g., what did you write in the application? How did you/DH/DW present yourself at the interview/group tour? Is your "very engaging" child viewed differently by others? Good luck, OP. |
| Op where do you live? Jklm district? |
| How about Appletree or Bridges PCS? You just need a year. Apply again for K. |
| Grace in Silver Spring, just across the DC line. There are several families from NW DC in the LS. They have rolling admissions, so they may have some spots. My three children went through the LS and it is a fantastic program. (Two are in the upper school now). But I would call soon, as folks are starting to scramble as the letters come in. Good luck! |
thansk..I will review their website |
| Let us know what happens, OP. |
