Private & Independent Schools
| The DC JCC preschool (at 16th & Q) has a pre-K class that I don't think is full yet. |
| Grace Episcopal in Silver Spring is still taking apps. I don't know much about it but there are threads about it here if you search. |
| montessori. they lose kids to kindergarten for the third year and often take new kids at pre-K or K. alot of good ones in dc. |
| Look at the Oneness Family School in Chevy Chase (if it is not too far). They might still have slots. It is a progressive montessori school, and is an amazing place. |

If you were looking at CHDS then Lowell makes sense in terms of type of school
Not sure if they would still have PK slots but they might Great school, my kids were there for years before Sidwell and GDS for MS/HS |
| Try Concord Hill in Chevy Chase, MD. Sometimes they have openings. Friends of ours were in the same position several years ago and ended up at Concord Hill. They loved it. |
| The British School of Washington is on a rolling admissions. Early years (Reception through Year 4) Fantastic. Best kept secret. Would not recommend for middle or high school. Have DD there now but leaving for the 2011-2012 school year. |
| Franklin Montessori is a fabulous school, and as a PP said it seems likely that spots may open for older kids if there are some children leaving the school for K instead of staying the third year. |
| OP - where are you located? |
| ncRc might work. I think the ore-k class often has spaces as the kids move in to Beauvoir, etc. |
Along those lines, you might also want to look at St. John's in Georgetown for their third year class. I think they have a fair amount of attrition from their second year program into "big 3" pk programs, so there might be space, and they also have an excellent reputation for exmissions to top private k programs. |
My child was wait listed at Beauvoir fro Pre-K and got offered a spot. Beauvoir has the most Pre-K spots of any school , I think. How was your WL worded? Don't give up. If it doesn't work out, do what most families in DC do: move. I also think you can pay tuition to go to a MOCO school ( maybe 18K) |
| Look at other local nursery schools. Often there are several openings in the 4 yo programs when all of the current kids ship out for private or parochial schools. At least that's what we noticed in Bethesda. |
PP here, will check BSW out. Why is DD leaving and how long did she attend for, if you don't mind me asking? |
| Might be too far but Burgundy Farm |
