Op, I hear ya. The silly, useless projects, often have very little learning for the student, yet are quite time consuming because they must draw intricate drawings and color them. These projects become just very large art projects for kids who can’t draw.

You didn’t read the thread did you? I clearly stated you know it’s a bs project when the teacher basically says it is. The teacher said this is designed to be a grade booster and will be graded on effort and participation only. Thanks but no thanks. My kid worked their butts off all year and has a solid A. We don’t need the extra work or hassle. It should be optional for kids who don’t need the grade boost.

It becomes a family problem because now we can’t go anywhere for the holiday weekend because the bs project is due after it. So yes “we” don’t need the hassle. We want family time, not have to worry about a bs project over the break.

Still not understanding why this is OP's problem to whine about. I've never adjusted weekend plans based on kids' homework. That's on them to figure out (and yes, they're in HS and yes, good grades).

OP reflects all that is wrong with this parenting culture. Even though there’s another month of school, her precious little snowflake shouldn’t have to do work assigned by the teacher because she has decided it is b.s., it won’t help his grade, and it inconveniences her family’s travel plans.
