High School bs end of the year projects

You didn’t read the thread did you? I clearly stated you know it’s a bs project when the teacher basically says it is. The teacher said this is designed to be a grade booster and will be graded on effort and participation only. Thanks but no thanks. My kid worked their butts off all year and has a solid A. We don’t need the extra work or hassle. It should be optional for kids who don’t need the grade boost.

It becomes a family problem because now we can’t go anywhere for the holiday weekend because the bs project is due after it. So yes “we” don’t need the hassle. We want family time, not have to worry about a bs project over the break.

There’s a ton of BS in life. Learning to deal with it is a good life skill.

If this BS project is taking your holiday weekend from you, I’m guessing your child has some poor time management skills.

Your claims don’t make sense. They’re easy, fluff “BS” projects but they also require so much work that your kid needs to work on them over the weekend?

Get used to the BS. There are other threads on here about how ridiculous the calendar is. Having school from mid August until mid June is the reason for so much BS. Get rid of the school board members who keep making poor choices. It’s your school district, not theirs.

I never said it was easy. I said it was bs. Meaning, it’s a time filler. It doesn’t relate at all to the current curriculum. It still requires quite a bit of time and research and next week they barely are in school. They have to make slides as well which as you know can be time consuming.

How much grade boosting are we actually talking about? I highly doubt one project can boost their final grade more than 1 or 2 points. So your kid could just do the bare minimum and probably still end up with the same letter grade for the year. Relax.

I don’t know what my sons 8th grade science project is but he made banana bread and took the internal temperature every 2 minutes. Whatever the science, I appreciate the yummy treat. He is making cookies and doing taking their temps while cooking those this weekend. I need to thank his science teacher…
