How come no one is talking about Artemis II mission?

The world is always burning. There are always madmen at the helm. If not here, then somewhere else. It doesn’t matter if we’re proud to be Americans. We should still forge ahead and do the improbable. On the upside, this is the farthest away from earth a non-US citizen has ever been and we gave him a ride.

Hell no.

Don't even try to normalize Trump.

This has nothing to do with normalizing Trump. This has nothing to do with him at all. There will always be something or someone. No point in waiting for things to be not crazy.

You are trying to normalize Trump again.

1/20/17-1/20/21 = Crazy
1/20/21-1/20/25 = Not Crazy
1/20/25-present = Batsht Crazy

The whole point of this mission is to set up a moon landing in 2 years, with a much more targeted and extensive mission than prior landings.

The videos and photos are just amazing. And kudos to Nutella and Honest for their inadvertent product placements lol.

Such a critical reaffirmation of the importance of science even as this admin tries to eliminate it. The fact that none of the astronauts would respond to Trump during his call speaks volumes.

We are proud to be Americans for sure.
The world is always burning for sure

So as proud Americans why don't we do something for the betterment of humanity?

You don't think we could have done a lot of things for the betterment of humanity with that money?

Again and again people **vastly** overestimate the cost of these missions and of NASA in general.
The FY26 budget for NASA (not Artemis, but all of NASA) is 24.4 Billion. It is less than half of a percent of the Federal budget. Which means everything else we do takes up over 99.5% of your tax dollars.
For comparison, the **supplemental** budget for ICE is 74 billion, on top of their 10+ billion annual budget.

For less than half a percent of your federal tax dollars, we can continue to explore the universe, to start to understand dark matter and dark energy, to study solar energy patterns, to look back on Earth and study the oceans and atmosphere, to look out into space and see the very beginnings of the universe, all while providing some of the best stable stem jobs and some of the very few high-tech manufacturing jobs left in the country.

"Footprints and flags" are a small part of what NASA does and as a standalone mission it doens't change the world. But as part of our ongoing exploration they're a critical next step.

We don't need to send men to do it. Men are fragile and temperamental beings.

That's why we're sending Christina Koch this time.

What is *not* cool about four humans doing a lap around the moon for the first time in over 50 years, going further from earth than any human has gone before. First woman to the moon, first black man to the moon, first Canadian to the moon. First time a toilet has left low earth orbit, lol.

If you're too cynical to enjoy this, I feel bad for you.

I watched it, but honestly, I find it amazing that they can blast people off into space, but I don't think it's cool at all.

Is that what happened?

I had to turn it off before I vomited.

I have the opposite reaction. What if we spent all this money on targeting disease, or homelessness, and aimed higher here on earth? Why do we have endless resources for what is essentially a vanity mission when life here on earth needs so much TLC?

If you’re paying attention, you would see this is not a vanity mission.

"Endless resources"???? Again - all of NASA's budget, not just Artemis, is less than half of one percent of the federal budget. Civil space exploration has nowhere near endless resources.
For targeting disease, Department of Health and Human Services budget was 116 billion in FY26 - nearly five times that of NASA!
For ending homelessness, HUD's budget was 77 billion in FY26.
NASA's budget was 24 billion.

Stop bombing other countries for just a few days and you can pay for all of Artemis.

I think some of you may be conflating NASA's civil space human exploration missions with the billionaire space tourism missions.

They are not the same.

What do we need from the moon?

It's boring and stupid. This is just one more example of Trump wanting to relive his youth. No one cares. We've already been to mars via cameras. We are not as easily impressed as we were in 1969 when little Trumpy got to sit up in his pajamas and watch TV extra late. Trump is such a loser.

You can thank Obama for this manned space program.
