DP. It's called the SLS for Senate Launch System, not Shuttle Launch System. We built it from reusable Shuttle engines, but ensure that they are not reused so Huntsville AL remains employed. |
| It's dumb and literally no one cares. China will best us to mining the H3 anyway. |
I didn’t appreciate Bridges of Madison County either. |
Some of us care and do not think it's dumb. China is currently scheduled for 2030, we're schedule for 2028. This mission going smoothly is a big advantage. China has never sent humans within the moon's orbit before, and 2030 will be their first time. They have a lot less margin for error and far less institutional knowledge. Maybe we'll get unlucky and they'll get lucky, but right now, we have the advantage. |
| ^^ Agree. Or the English Patient! |
Trust me, China will beat us to it. |
Because it’s really none of those things it’s diverting extremely needed resources on earth to pay billionaires tons of money to build something that doesn’t advance anything for humanity. And these astronauts are not in a position of authority. |
Advantage for what? |
If you're going to be snarky and cynical, at least be correct. It's the SPACE launch system. The shuttle retired in over a decade ago. |
| Our family is following it generally. It’s cool and we’re glad it’s happening. Hope things go well and looking forward to the moon landing. |
| Huge waste of money. |
So entirely short sighted, but not shocked these days. |
Me too |
+1. I brought two humans into the world never thinking they would come of age into this mess. |
There's nothing on the moon that we need. Even He-3 is of dubious value as a nuclear fuel. |
