Colbert never said the FCC shut it down, he was very clear on the night of the interview and the next day that it was CBS’s lawyers who had opinions about it. Have you actually watched what he said?

Colbert pretty blatantly lied in his incoherent next-day monologue when and pretended that the problem was some Trump/Republican-related thing when it was actually either about him not wanting to put Crockett on CBS, or him wanting a publicity stunt.

I was confused about what CBS's statement was saying until I realized that Dem Crockett was running against Dem Talarico and that's what the "equal time" concern was about.

You do know that CBS nor the FCC prevented the airing of the interview. Seems as if Colbert has a preferred candidate and didn’t want anything to get in the way. Both Colbert and Talarico are lying.

CBS didn't even tell The Late Show that they couldn't air your interview.

They simply offered legal guidance for how Stephen Colbert could provide equal airtime to the other DEMOCRAT candidates who you are running against.

The FCC was never involved at any point.

Who provided the legal guidance? Was it solicited?

Who does Bari Weiss want to see as the candidate? Who is she most afraid of? Or more to the point, which candidate does David Ellison most fear?

CBS/Bari Weiss shut this down. Maybe not directly but in a “nice mother you have there, it would be a shame if anything happened to her” sort of way.

This definitely hurt Crockett and helped Talarico. Crockett realistically had no chance against Cronyn or Paxton. But Talarico might have a chance. That said, plenty of dems touted Beto O'Rourke as having a real chance, and that turned out to be false, or just false hope. I'm not sure Talarico will be different than Beto.

Beto lost but he only lost by 2 1/2 points. I don’t think any of that hope was false and he exceeded a lot of people’s expectations. And he has consistently stayed on the ground since talking to and registering voters.

Beto's run should be viewed as a success in a state that hasn't elected a Democrat to statewide office in 30 years. And part of that is because he's from El Paso, which is remote and barely Texas in some ways (I'm from there, not bashing). The fact that he almost beat Cruz is pretty unbelievable.

I don't know what Democrats are thinking with Crockett. She has exactly the type of politics that will only turn off moderate Texans who would like an alternative to a Trump lackey. I realize that makes people mad, but it's the truth.

They didn’t have to before Brendan Carr released guidance last month that he would start looking at ending the longtime exception for talk shows.

I agree, and I listened to two different long discussions about this race on Pod Save America and on one of the Bulwark podcasts today. They both have similar positions on everything, but Talarico’s view of the race is to bring in some moderate and swing voters who are disappointed by Trump, while Crockett thinks she can win by motivating the Democratic base and nonvoters. And if Crockett wins she’s more polarizing so Republicans will be more motivated to vote against her.

I suspect Democrats in Texas realize Crockett won't win. Last poll had her up on Talarico by 10 points. But Talarico has had a huge boost in recent days. He will likely win the nomination in a couple of weeks with his momentum. Voters in Texas are starting to focus and they'll want someone who can win. Trump and Republican favorability generally are sinking fast, even in Texas. Trump is comfortably underwater in Texas. And Talarico definitely has what it takes to defeat Paxton or Conryn, who are both pretty unpopular in Texas.
