NP here: I’m not understanding how expecting people to comply with their legal obligation to leave contact information after hitting someone’s car constitutes “white privilege.” Can you explain that? |
Your quote is misogynistic. |
DP. Those legal obligations were created by white people with the intent of repressing minorities. |
This is the biggest reach I’ve read on DCUM. So, why even have insurance if it’s racist, according to your logic. |
The only "Karens" in this situation are people who commit hit and runs and are entitled to think they can get away with being a shitty human. |
It is simply baffling how dumb, ignorant people like you make it to adulthood. I'm the one you responded to and I'm a non-white immigrant. You attempt at manufacturing some kind of a race issue is disgusting. Do better. |
No, it’s not. And she’s right. It’s completely unrealistic and unreasonable to expect noncitizens (who are overwhelmingly BIPOCs) to have expensive insurance when some many are here just struggling to survive and feed their families day to day. |
An auto insurance requirement is gatekeeping to keep the poors off the roads. https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/east/2024/11/21/802047.htm |
Insurance is part of the cost of owning a car. You don't need comprehensive or collision, but liability is a must. If you put gas in your car, you insure your car. Or, feel free to pay out of pocket when you damage someone else's car. Those are the cards you play when getting on the road. And stop disparaging POC. I'm OP, and a WOC (though half white). The victim in this case was a Black woman. The perp was ethnically ambiguous, and had the most expensive vehicle of all 3 of us. If you can't afford to insure your car, you sure as hell can't afford a gym membership. Facts. |
Again, your attempt to use non-citizens as a strawman for your dumb argument is gross. Everyone gets to follow the law. Driving is a privilege. If you can't afford it don't drive. I'm not paying for your dumb mistakes. |
So pick a poor and pay for their auto insurance. I'm not willing to share the road with anyone who can't afford to pay for the damage they cause. WHAT THE ACTUAL F. |

OP here with another update.
The victim gave the hitter a few days, and they never owned up. So she filed a police report, then confronted the hitter for seeing her, and then still driving off. Hopefully she learns her lesson. It's ok that mistakes happen. We all do them. But when you don't own up to them or your mistakes... it's going to be worse for you. "The gym" is a community of sorts, and though we may have never spoken, you're always going to see people again - we're all (or most of us) are there to better ourselves. Running away is never going to solve your problems. |
