What kind of person hits another person's car, and doesn't say anything? Leave a note?

Some people panic in the moment, and do the wrong thing. I don't judge them too harshly. In the big scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal.

When, in your opinion, does hit and run become a big deal?

Uhm, yes it is a big deal to cause damage to someone else's property and not take accountability!!!! Any adult who can't act responsibly should not be driving a vehicle. Being flustered is not an excuse. Also, it's most likely because they have no insurance.

PP you replied to. Compared to murder, theft, etc... That person's not going to hell over forgetting to leave a note, PP. You need to keep things in perspective.

Hit and run is serious and you can be arrested for hitting a car and not leaving contact information.

OP here. I did the same thing a few years ago. The person called me back and said they didn't notice anything. Of course it's stressful, but if you don't do the right thing in times of stress, that's a bad indicator of character.

The fact that that the woman literally SAW the victim get in her car and then drove off, is awful. You can't blame that on not having pen/paper.

Maybe they had a private beef, and the other woman had an affair with her husband or something.

You are galactically stupid.

You are bringing up your children to be as dishonest as your parents reared you.

The number in of dishonest people posting on this thread is shocking.

The lack of the character, integrity, and honesty by so many responses is unbelievable.

Aren't there any real crimes for the police to pursue?

I'm sorry you're too dumb to realize that causing thousands of dollars of damage to someone's mode of transportation is not serious. Luckily, the police and the courts know that it is serious and treat it as such.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that people like you are being recorded in pretty much every parking lot nowadays.

Not really. They are too busy hiding illegal aliens from ICE. Because apparently some people are above the law & cities & states can choose not to enforce laws that offend these people.

Again: not everyone has insurance, you know.

And for noncitizens, you first need to have a drivers license to get car insurance. How do you expect them to get that?

Insurance is not really relevant.

If you don't have insurance, you pay out of pocket for your mistake. It's not complicated.

OP here, agree, and I'm shocked at the responses.

And it's not even about others - you do the right thing for your own conscience. I suspect a lot of people have a broken conscience. I'm an atheist, but I try to do the right thing for my own peace of mind, and of course treating others how I'd want to be treated.

It's easy to be honest with reasonable people. Around here, if you ding someone's car in a parking lot, they need to be "made whole." That's a paint job minimum. When their transmission dies 30,000 miles later, it must have been latent damage.
