+1. Why is this so difficult for people to understand?

It’s difficult because it’s wrong. Repeating lies doesn’t make them true.

Democrats have voted 15 times since September AGAINST funding the government, including SNAP. That’s literally why there is no money. Period, full stop.

Why do you insist on lying about this situation? What’s in it for you?

What is untrue about that statement?

The Trump administration CHOSE to do it. The courts ruled they need to continue SNAP but the Trump administration is fighting it.

Meanwhile they have billions for Argentina, private jets for Noem and everything else, but not SNAP.

Sorry but "it's the Dems fault" just doesn't fly.

No other shutdown has gone this long.

Why is that relevant?

Look up the charts on what percentage is going to non US born people, mostly from a handful of countries. Already Trump admin has eliminated 700k people who shouldn’t have been on SNAP.

Refugees come to our country with nothing. They’re trying to get started. They receive SNAP. Immigrants typically have low paying jobs that require food assistance. Most people on SNAP have jobs. There aren’t undocumented workers on SNAP because you must show social security cards and birth certificates to get assistance. Also in America, people should not starve, especially children.

Also the Trump administration lies!

I'm a Democrat. However I said on day 1 of the shutdown Schumer went into this against an administration that breaks the law and he probably had no plan for an off ramp. He is not going to get what he wants for all the pain it is causing. That's the sad truth. You can't win a staring contest against people who want to destroy the government. It's time to vote to open the government.

What makes them unworthy of SNAP? Less than 11% of recipients are foreign born, but that alone doesn’t make them ineligible for benefits. The numbers I see show the foreign born recipients are mostly naturalized citizens followed by refugees and other legal permanent residents.

It's only a couple of days longer than the last one. They started threatening to cut SNAP long before this shutdown even came close to being longer than the last one.

Again, the Trump administration CHOSE to do this, and they clearly have money for far less important things than hungry Americans.

Setting aside refugees, as they should get help for the initial transition period, why would we import poverty? People coming here should have the skills to be self sufficient or their sponsor/guarantor should be paying for their food.

That doesn’t answer the question. Which recipients shouldn’t be on SNAP? What makes them ineligible?

It does. No one immigrating here should be eligible other than refugees. The same goes for section8 housing/vouchers

And they went to SCOTUS to make sure no one is. Including American children. Absolute ghouls.

He is hurting his voters, but in order for them to be alienated they would have to be smart enough to understand that they are being told ridiculous lies. I'm in a purple state and our democratic representative's Facebook page is regularly trolled by MAGA idiots. Today one of them proclaimed that he had just learned that "60% of SNAP benefits go to illegal aliens". He's like "yeah, the president should shut it down until all those people are off it and it's just citizens receiving benefits!" Of course, anyone with half a brain knows that the vast majority of SNAP recipients are US citizens, with a small percentage of refugees and documented migrants receiving some. But of course every one of his idiot friends was liking his post and agreeing with it.

They are, unfortunately, real people, voters, and not bots. They are just incredibly dumb, and racist, which MAGA exploits at every opportunity.

You mean the fake chart that's circulating, showing most of them are Afghans etc?

The overwhelming majority of SNAP recipients are US-born and white.
