OP here - he wasn’t elderly - he was like 50/55. I am honestly in shock that people are arguing that it’s ok for someone to get out of their car - for any reason. Flick me off fine. Start going 10 mph - very dickish but ok. But block me in and get out? Insanity.

What rule of the road says to honk at drivers not going the speed you want them to?

Are you guys ok? It literally doesn’t matter what she did to him, you cannot get out of your car and confront another driver. That is psychotic and also stupid - what if the other driver is more psychotic than you and shoots you or something???

It literally does matter.

It’s completely crazy behavior to get out of your car like that. Even if op was a rude hot head (and that’s not how it seems to me) it’s an absolute clown move.

It’s not crazy behavior. But since you seem to be as much of a clown as OP, keep your perspective in mind before you get behind the wheel and think to behave like OP.

I feel like I’ve entered some alternate universe.

For those of you with teen drivers, if you had to pick one would you rather (1)they honk once at someone going to well below the speed limit or (2) throw the emergency brake and stomp back to confront someone they feel honked wrongly at them?

I tell my teen to never use the honk unless someone is reversing towards them and they can’t get out of the way.

Of course you tell your teen not to honk at people-we all do. Are you saying that you would RATHER they put the car in park, exit the vehicle (and angrily walk back to confront a mildly discourteous driver) than honk once? Good luck with that!

This is a false choice. Since my teen is being told to not honk this won't even happen. Just pass when you are able is the lesson.

You were both wrong. He needs to go at the speed limit, and he shouldn't get out of his car to explain stuff to people. Maybe he's on the spectrum. You shouldn't have honked.

This thread is full of trolls and idiots. It is legal to use a horn to warn a driver who is going unusually slow and impeding traffic. It is illegal to stop in the middle of the road and confront another driver. It is obstructing traffic at minimum but can be classified as road rage or harassment.

Nope. Not on a neighborhood street with varying speed limits. If you were on a highway going 45 in a 55, maybe.

Don’t be an aggressive ahole when driving and you won’t be questioned about your actions.

Exactly. People that drive excessively slow and have a long traffic jam rolling up behind them are usually very agro men looking for conflict. Look at what happened here. A little beep of the horn and this man in his Cayenne stops all traffic and gets out of his vehicle looking to get into it with the driver of the car behind them. F these men. The really slow drivers are often teeny peeny road ragers just waiting for a horn so they can get of the car and intimidate, scare, beat up, and shoot people. The willfully slow drivers are toxic masculinity in a nutshell. And anyone that gets out of their car and impedes all traffic as they threaten women and others with their anger and rage should know that people have a right to run over them if they feel their life is in danger.

None of that happened. The only facts from OP was her impatience and aggression. And her full Karen behavior pretending to be the victim of the circumstances she caused.

Also LOL that men are the slow drivers. At least use the right facts when defending your “victim”.

Yes keep this in mind before you ever use your horn!!! The person in front of you can and according to these people actually SHOULD get out and confront you about honking at him. Honking very aggressive behavior but exiting your vehicle to confront someone is fine.

Can’t tell if this is sarcasm because people on this thread are so crazy.

Don’t you mean grandpa since it’s only men that drive slow on neighborhood streets?

That said I find it hard to believe this story. The guy stopped in the middle of a busy 30 mph street with a lot of traffic to confront op because of a gentle honk? He’d have gotten tons of not so gentle honks from cars piled up behind her.

Because we all know OP didn’t give a “gentle honk”. Which would have been meaningless anyway. It’s not like a horn is a megaphone; no one would know why OP is randomly honking at people.

This strip of road is not that long. Its not like he was driving for miles like this. Also, there are tons of accidents and animals that that have been hit in that area. Its a hill with a 30mph limit. OP needs to chill.
