At any of these schools, this kid gets into Brown level schools ED. Provided not a lot of other hooked peers EDing.

No.
NCS, Sidwell, and Gilman are all on the list. Not for 3.5 gpa kids.

DCs’ school is on top 20 of this list. I just checked our scattergram:
- Dartmouth and Cornell took kids down to 3.8 but all from ED only. SAT 1470-1570
- Chicago took down to 3.7 but also only from ED
- Tufts and Emory took 3.7 kids in RD. Some SAT under 1500
Acceptance rate for all above 22-29%

A lot of schools do not rank now, particularly private schools. They are automatically ranked top 10% according to Brown.

you're both wrong

Percent in top tenth of high school graduating class
89%
Percent in top quarter of high school graduating class
98%
Percent in top half of high school graduating class
100% Percent in bottom half of high school graduating class
0% Top half +
bottom half = 100%
Percent in bottom quarter of high school graduating class
0%
Percent of total first-time, first-year (freshmen) students who
submitted high school class rank:
30.6%

70% of kids didnt submit rank and it's not included in these figures.

Assuming the ones who submitted are the public School kids?

I’m not OP. Everyone is trying guess what level of GPA could get into which schools from a top 20, so I checked as I have the scattergrams open

If the applicant is truly from a top 20 HS then yes an Ivy/T20 college AO would know. They will be very familiar with the HS which prob send in at least 15-20 apps a year and all get a close look at. They would know how often they see an app with 4.0 (never), 3.95 (a few), etc. they would know roughly how many kids are ahead of you if you have a 3.8 or 3.6

Did OP say that? I must have missed it. The title says middle of the class, which is typically 3.5 in a top private that does not inflate.

Yup - I think they had 20+ kids go to Chicago a year or two ago. I guess those kids really like the color maroon.

Chicago got a lot of private feeders. There is College Preparatory High School, Harvard Westlake, Nueva school, Crystal Spring, and bunch more in CA. I bet they have feeders in mid-west as well. Of course there are NYC schools also.
