You are one of those fake christians who gave us Trump. |

Where is this country headed? If someone like this is crying poverty we are royaly f**d.
What will the hourly wave worker who is 60 with only $1k in savings do when they lose their jobs? They are a lot of such 60 year olds in our country |
The policies can help both sets of people. I don't think either type of person should have to take out loans against their housing value or sell their house if there are legitimate programs in place to help. Obviously both types of people can look for work but there are no guarantees of what you can get. And a mother with kids has extra expenses. When my two kids were in a decent daycare, the monthly cost exceeded my mortgage. Even though the daycare workers weren't paid much above minimum wage and it was a non-profit single location housed at a church in flyover country. |
Not sure if that’s your case but it happens a lot in states with no or high asset limits. People with low salaries or SS don’t qualify while those with hefty assets do. |
I am proud that the USA takes care of innocent children here whose parents have become unemployed suddenly. I would happily pay more taxes to continue to support parents, dependents, and families that are struggling. May I suggest you volunteer at a food bank for a few hours and see the faces of the elderly and children you are denying? |
True, he doesn’t have dependents and may live in a state that has required work attached to benefits. We are headed this way at the end of next year. Get ready to support elderly parents and relatives like this. |
| You would humiliate your kid like this? |
No. No it doesn't. |
Or a soup kitchen. Humbles you real fast. |
In my kids' school, no one would ever know. |
You just described American style capitalism. The capital owners are supported by the government to maximize their profits. One way to do so is to pay as low as you can to the workers watching over our precious babies. And in the years to come our government will simply be unable to support both set of people's because of declining revenue. Our government cannot tax technology one of the prime source of revenues. |
I am from West Africa and grew up in an extremely wealthy family. I grew up in a massive mansion, flew private jets, basically the same lifestyle rich Americans have. My parents covered my undergrad including grad school at Pomona College. The key difference between me and a rich American is that I grew up with poverty around me and in my family. In Africa you are surrounded by poverty and it's in your face. You quickly from a young age recognize your privilege. This is not the case in the US. Poverty is hidden in this country. If you don't want to see it, you can spend 90 years of your life and not see it. The country is designed in a.way to shield to those of financial.means from the sights of poverty. |
The rich has no problem taking handouts from the government. You should to go Twitter to chastise Elon, who is the welfare king. |
Obviously she prefers to be unemployed. Tons of jobs out there. You can do landscaping work or flip burgers. No shame in doing what you have to do to survive. |
A person on unemployment is doing themself a disservice by doing minimum wage jobs such as these. The income one would make flipping burgers/doing landscaping work is going to take away from the amount of unemployment they can receive. A minimum wage job will pay approx as much as unemployment ($375/wk ish) yet will require the person on unemployment to spend their time working said min wage job vs looking for a better paying job. Why would someone willingly do that before unemployment runs out? Unemployment insurance is not a public benefit, it is paid into by your (former) employer. If they qualify for unemployment, why should someone forgo it to flip burgers instead? |
