That being said, you don’t get to make this decision. The best thing you can do is be there for your niece or nephew and if things start going south encourage proper care.

Tragically, many more maternal and infant deaths occur before/during/after hospital births than home births.

Are you talking in absolute terms? Because i hope you understand that there are millions more births in hospitals than home births.

Obviously.

My point is that hospitals can be and often are unsafe places to give birth.

Why the hell do you think less women die in childbirth now???

It's horrible but you just have to detach.

It amuses how the people who kill babies for fun also oppose home births. What happened to my body my choice?

Shut the hell up! Abortion is healthcare not murder. Go worship your photo of T****!

NP. The homebirth people are absolutely insane, OP. You can see it in this thread. Don’t expect rationality from these folks.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do here. I think you will need to get help for your own very justified grief and anxiety, this is going to be hard for you. I’m so sorry.

I wonder what percentage of the pro-homebirthers are also vaccine refuseniks. In both instances, all one has to do is walk through a graveyard and count the number of babies/toddlers who died prior to the 1950s (prior to vaccines and when most babies were still being born at home).

This is straight up propaganda.

Yes it’s almost as if they think access to high quality and comprehensive healthcare is important.

A lot of babies and women die this way. Birth isn’t a safe, gauzy pastel fantasy. It’s dangerous.

If you want to accept an increased risk if death or disability, good luck to you.

It is your choice. It’s a stupid choice, though, and you need to hear that.

And the people who embrace this stupid choice with their own bodies also want to control my health care choices with my body. Look, if you oppose abortion, then don't have one. If you think that having a home birth is for you, then go for it. But leave my choices alone.

Sounds like she’s smarter than you are.

So idiotic. These women insisting on home births are always attention seeking narcissists.
