My God! My DC (middle) had such a bad headache today. I wonder if they had a similar number of movies. This makes me so angry. But FCPS isn’t a “babysitter”. Right. Not sure if this is any better, but last year my high schooler played blackjack in band the last week of school. |
Maybe they should pay teachers for a day or two past the last day of school so they can everything done (grading, room take down) without students. |

This would never fly in ES. Not sure why middle/high school teachers are allowed to do this. |
+1 From daily instruction, doing progress reports, and “packing up”, ES is very different, particularly from HS, at the end of the SY. |
Teachers should be more creative than this! Their grading was done by last Friday. The laptops were returned last Friday. They announced 5 movies. Yet, they wonder why parents take off for vacation or why kids don’t want to go to school. There is no incentive to go to middle school for 3 days if it’s consecutive movies from one class period to the next. The principals are showing poor leadership, too. |
Our MS is having awards and field day activities this week (Monday-Tuesday). I think there is some movie watching, but for my student there was also history trivia and an international food festival in the language classes. These are certainly wasted days but at least some teachers are trying to make it fun! |
Two more days of movies 🍿 🎥!
This is the worst we’ve seen of ‘babysitting’ at FCPS in 10 years! Even PE class just had the kids sit on bleachers inside yesterday for the entire class. No exercise, no balls, no games, nothing. That’s a shame! |
Yep, today is continuation of the movies that started. They picked long movies to cover the three days. |
What on earth. Which schools are these? We are in the Marshall pyramid and my kids worked all the way until Friday. Promotion was yesterday with class parties today and early release tomorrow. It all feels appropriate to me. |
Is that ES? ES seems to be different. |
