They were literally foreign agents of a foreign government operating in our country. Yes, it sucks that they were murdered; this isn’t going to help the starving kids of Gaza that Israel is trying to kill en mass.

But I’ll have much more sympathy for American Jews who are victims of senseless antisemitism. Diplomats have been “fair game” throughout history; it’s not a particularly safe job.

The difference between racism and anti-semitism is that racists generally view their racial/ethnic/religious group as superior to others, while anti-semites view a specific group (Jews) as solely responsible for the world's ills in some way. With this logic, Israel is solely responsible for the world's ills and in this particular case, the Jewish diaspora's ills. If Israel did not exists, Jews in the diaspora would be safe--or "safer"--whatever that means.

Israel is not upsetting people around the world by simply existing. They are committing a brutal genocide. No one is suggesting they are responsible for “the world’s ills” but they are 100% responsible for their own abhorrent actions. If Israel represents Jewish statehood, how is committing war crimes in their name making Jewish people safer? Where do you expect extremists to direct their anger?

Sometimes you can express sadness that lives are lost and then shut up. All this " we understand this and that" is completely unnecessary. If terrorists were shooting everyday Americans in the street, would you justify that using America's actions/policies abroad? It does not matter whether Palestinians or Israelis are the ones getting killed. These are people with families. It's senseless, all of it.

Kidnapping and murdering civilians at a music festival and elsewhere is horrifying.

Relentlessly bombing and starving thousands of civilians over months is horrifying.

Confining thousands and thousands of civilians to live in an ever-shrinking, squalid refugee camp for decades is horrifying.

All of these things can be -- and are -- true at the same time, and the horrors are directly related.

With its immense power, Israel could have and could adopt a strategy to stop the madness and has chosen not too.

Where is Egypt and why are non-Arabs pouring money into the region to be used to kill Israelis?
