Man and Woman Shot and Killed Outside Capital Jewish Museum

Antisemitism had nothing to do with this. This was all about the easy access to guns in this country. The NRA and Trump and responsible for this.

I actually agree, but would love to hear more of your thoughts on this.

Witness reports that the shooter came inside the building and said he saw the shooting and requested a safe space and water, and then whipped out a keffiyeh and shouted Free Palestine before being escorted out.

This was very wrong, but so is Israeli state sanctioned terror, and so is zionism as an ideology. One can hold simultaneous ideas.

And let's be honest - 2 Palestinians have been killed AT LEAST every hour by Israelis since this story broke.

But we all know one Israeli life is about equal to 1,000 Palestinian lives.

This is how I feel too. This killing is wrong. But I understand the anger that led to it.

Actually you can't. If you call israelis/zionists NAZIS, don't be surprised when people act on it. And there's no reason to believe that the shooter knew that the victims were specifically Israeli. This was an American Jewish Committee event attendeed mostly by American Jews in foreign policy roles. Btw, the the panel event for the evening was on multi-faith efforts to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza--which Hamas is also accountable for.

Oh, and the only people who actually thing one Israeli life is equal to about 1,000 Palestinian lives is Hamas--as that is approximately their going rate for hostage exchanges in this war.

Sweetheart that's Netanyahu and the IDF's choice. Israel is the one who put the hostage release at the bottom of their goals, and broke the ceasefire. By Israel's own admission, Hamas cares more about the hostages than the IDF.

Agree that this is terror at home and could frankly now happen anywhere in the US. Bc you “look Jewish”? Right? People have been militarized and radicalized by fundamentalism. There’s no reasoning with them and it’s been tacitly condoned by too many in the name of “speech”.

It all stops now. Zero tolerance for ANY antisemitic behavior.

This will be a turning point.

What are you talking about? People get shot in America all the time. People get shot in DC all the time.

This is an awful incident...and particularly to kill diplomats there will be repercussions. But this isn't going to represent a sea change for violence in America due to religion, race or nationality.

+1. It’s a terrible tragedy that shouldn’t have occurred. That said I’m not giving it more attention than any other killing of the same type. Israeli persecution isn’t more important to me than anyone else that it’s occurring to.

Let me guess, you understand that anger that led to the UHC CEO being killed too. Maybe you think this type of vigilante justice is ok once or twice a year or for very specific political causes? That's not how it's going to play out.

Concurrently, if you behave like Nazis, don't be surprised when people call you Nazis.

So... do you call out Israel and the IDF for encaging in vigilante justice all day every day?

Violence is never justified. Thoughts and prayers on this one, for sure.

Oh ok, you do want to see more dead Jews shot on America's streets. Carry on.
