No warrant is needed at a border crossing. US citizenship or not you have to unlock your phone and hand it over. Over spring break many people(US passports) were scrubbing their phone before going through customs. Talk to some of them. They said sign out of all apps, delete the apps, delete all your text history, etc and restart. After US customs people were reloading their phones. Great time to be an American. If I was a foreigner, green card, etc would not travel outside the US. If you are a foreigner forget about traveling to the US. |
They pull a gun on you and ask you to unlock your cell phone? |
Arab-Americans have been going through this for decades (even before Sept 11th). |
Bet one of the pro Israeli groups put him on a list and now CBP are arresting or harassing American citizens for Israel. |
Agree |
b DP. Your original statement was that you were taken to a building for one-hour. Not a cell and not for hours. And not separated from your spouse who was housed in a different cell. |
Don’t lie. They did not handcuff you and put you in a cell. We’ve been pulled over at that location before. They searched our car and asked the kids their names. No handcuffs or holding cells were used |
PP here. I’ve been in the building on the Vermont border. Don’t try to compare that to being in a locked cell. |
Secondary inspection. Try and keep up. |
I’d assume that’s because I was polite and not a MAGA Lawyer going on about his "rights" without actually knowing them. This will be another case of liberals not waiting for the facts, then looking stupid when the video comes out. |
You’re really exaggerating that “moved to a building” like it was so ominous. And I’m pretty sure you’re lying about them asking for your phone. |
Just like mine. Secondary inspection. And we went into the building too. I never thought they were doing anything wrong. Handcuffs and a jail cell are very wrong. |
You do NOT have to unlock your phone. You do have to turn it over. Turn off biometrics before coming through US immigration. |
DP. How many different people here need to post that they DO ask for your phone, and post links to prove it’s common? Also "moved to a building" you can’t leave from would freak out most people. |
Why do you automatically assume he wasn’t polite? We basically only know his name. Are you assuming based on that that he was rude? That’s a pretty big assumption, that he must’ve been rude, and you’ve been saying it from the beginning based on absolutely nothing. But even if he had been impolite, does that mean someone should be handcuffed, separated from family, and put in a cell for hours? That seems to be your message. |
