A 20 year old car was built in 2005. It has essentially the same pollution controls and engine efficiency as a car made yesterday. You have zero clue WTH you’re babbling about. |
Not only that but a 20 year old car has already existed long enough to “pay back” the environmental cost of building it in the first place. It’s lasted longer than its projected lifespan already, so keeping it on the road has essentially eliminated the need for at least one, possibly two, cars to have been built to replace it. That’s a MAJOR contribution in terms of energy savings and reducing consumption of resources. If something can last 2-3 times it’s protected lifespan, then that eliminates having to build a replacement for it every 10-15 years. |
What are your talking about???? My car does not leak. It does very well on emissions tests. This is not some 1980s 8 cylinder behemoth. It is a sedan. Mechanics regularly ask if I would sell it to them ans oddly enough strangers have approached me about it as recently as last week. My closest and dearest friend has had 6 cars in the time I’ve had this car. The most recent ones have been EVs. Not all of them have had long lives even after resale (she has known or lived closed to people who bought her cars). Producing cars that last only a few years before being resold / scrapped is not a good environmental solution. Producing few cars that last longer is the right solution. Ditto our tech devices and appliances. It may not be great for corporate bottom lines and worker pay checks but it is better for the planet. Don’t get me started on the environmental impacts of bitcoin like operations. |
Yes, PP is a fool. Manufacturing new cars is far worse for the environment than running old cars |
We can finally all agree that Elon Musk hasn’t helped the environment at all. Manufacturing 3 ton single occupancy vehicles with massive batteries and rate earth metals just to relocate emissions from the tailpipe to the power plant. Just massively destructive to the environment and the climate. Democrats couldn’t grok this until Elon became a political enemy, but now they understand it quite well. |
No it is not. Do some research maga. |
These are the values of minority of people. You won't win another election if these are the values that you treasure above all. 3500 iphones won't be a dealbreaker. There are and will be alternatives, people buy second hand and people will stop buying iPhones if they are only good for 3 years before they become clunkers. Competitors will swoop in like they always do. Good luck. ![]() |
Single occupancy vehicles? My Tesla Y can haul 7 people as long as 2 of them are under 5.4 in height. Tesla X can haul 7 adults better than Toyota Highlander. You are drunk. |
They have fewer affluent metro areas and fewer affluent areas altogether compared to the coastal states and some parts of the South, Midwest. You cannot be this clueless to not understand that education standards and competition is more fierce in the areas with most concentration of education requiring white collar workforce. Nice parts of Alabama and Texas aren't falling behind Fairfax county. |
Trump 47 is literally a gift from the likes of you. ![]() |
I am going to have to be honest here, wealth transfers started long before Trump 45, 2020 just went completely off the rails in many aspects. |
Yup. And importantly, new cars put people in debt. Many times, it's people who can't afford the ride but they sign up for it anyway. |
I trust ME with my 401K. I don't blame everything in my life on Trump. Got it? I prosper IN SPITE OF Washington DC. They do damn little for me. |
Yes, Trump is erratic. That's a feature. You don't F with him because you never know what will happen if you do. President Xi Jinping...Big Beautiful Chocolate Cake...Syria Strikes. Google it. |
I use an android and I am definitely not poor by any measure out there. Of course maybe that's part of why I'm not poor. |
