Americans are going to act like Argentineans: traveling to Mexico or Canada to buy cheaper products and bringing it in their suitcases, avoiding customs

If this kind of thing truly does happen, in 2026 the Democrats will easily roll to victory in Congress. Then they can step up and actually behave like Congress by taking back the power to levy tariffs. If they play their cards right, that will set them up well for the next presidential election as well. America's economic saviors sounds good as a party tagline, right?

Maybe $3500 iPhones are good - it will drive competition and make people think before upgrading to a new phone every year which is a disaster for the environment. We love our cheap stuff but has anyone really sat down and thought about whether it actually is good or bad in the long run?

I agree with you but that’s not the thinking of your “average” consumer. If average Americans were capable of avoiding overconsumption for the sake of environment we wouldn’t be where we are. Environment, Climate Change are issues that only stupid libs obsess over, intellect of an average American is circling the drain.
