| So is all the hate towards Alexandria and the big reason surrounding clubs are hating it is because they would be partnered with Washington Spirit? Just asking because that seems where this thread is going and it would explain all of this. I am probably wrong. |
Michelle Kang gave the money. Some if it was hers and some was money she raised through donations. Kang also owns the London City Lionesses, a team currently in the WSL Championship. She is a huge proponent of advancing football for women and girls. Yes, she owns the Spirit but Spirit didn't give the money. You are either ill informed or deliberately trying to misrepresent what happened. Either way, it makes what you said carry less weight. |
The same girls from the top teams at McLean, Loudoun, SYC, Arlington, GFR, Vienna, PWSI, VSA, BRYC, and Alexandria have played against one other countless times over the last 5 years. Moving to ECNL introduces 8 non-NOVA clubs, with only 4 NOVA clubs in the Mid-Atlantic division. Moving to GA currently introduces 11 non-NOVA clubs, with only 3 NOVA clubs in the Mid-Atlantic (up from just 1 last year). Next year, 7 GA Mid-Atlantic clubs will be from NOVA. That's not elite or exclusive, it's more of the same. |
So isnt 11 non nova teams more than 8 non nova teams? Not getting your reasoning here. And let's be real alot of those teams outside your area are no where near elite. Having a badge in either league does not mean elite |
Agree. I'd just like to see my DD stop playing against so many mediocre NOVA teams. Would be nice if the top talent in the region would concentrate in a smaller number of teams, but we're heading in the opposite direction. Current NOVA situation almost makes Bethesda an attractive option. |
I get what your saying and eventually both leagues will have to thin the herd. Would prefer to spend 10 dollars in gas to play mediocre team then drive 5 hours and 1k later to play a mediocre team. Bethesda in my opinion has the best grouping of both leagues. Agree. |
So instead of playing mediocre NOVA teams you'd rather drive around the mid atlantic and stay in hotels to play non-NOVA mediocre teams? |
Congratulations, you're the reason why the travel soccer overpay for play model exists and thrives. You think that playing the same exact caliber of players from a longer distance away makes things better. Because traveling to Wilmington, NC to beat up on a team that's only in the ECNL due to geographic isolation is so much better for your kid's development. Yaaaay!!!! |
I agree, add Asheville next season and that trip to Va Beach is always fun. |
We're making it worse by spreading a fixed amount of talent across a larger number of teams. So yes, I prefer the current situation over what we will have next year, and last year's situation over what we have this year. |
At least Va Beach isn't the beach. Lol |
Another theory is that with highly level soccer costing less $ minus all the travel you will be able to develop more of the population and the overall talent pool in the DMV will rise. DMV has the wealth to attract good coaches to the region, has the resources to keep a robust network of private training, etc. Traveling to NC for a league game loses its appeal very quickly. |
Or on another note having more teams can give more kids time to shine. Let's be real coaches have favorites. The same people saying the talent is diluted is usually the same person crying on sideline about kids position or time in game. but hey you got the hat! |
| I like how there are always people here who have to make everything into, 'Your kid sucks," without knowing the first thing about how good the kid is at playing the game. Some of you are real losers. |
Nothing mediocre about Penn Fusion, PDA Blue or even Delco |
