GA is the new CCL

The USWNT does not field small players period. Maybe some short ones, but they tend to be outside backs and super athletic which is always going to keep you in a lineup in the US system.

Last year's Rookie of the Year is 5'2. And an attacker.

For the record my dd plays ECNL. But you have to see it for what it is.

PP Actually I've been GA and ECNL daddy. Boys certainly impact the badge; they are impossibile to forget, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about right now April 2025. ECNL is a far superior product locally and nationally and that is not changing anytime soon. GA can add 10 teams and it will only strengthen those ECNL teams. Will it likely change, sure change is the name of the game, but if your DD is in HS already don't hold your breath in GA for this change. If your kid has the talent and motivation to play on one of the three ECNL teams left and isn't one of those exceptions I noted already then you are in fact a fool for continuing this mindless debate. The customers have spoken. Just ask NVA how there teams look after their badge switch?

read STOOPID.

I'm cheering for her but for sake of argument these facts remain. She was not in the youth pool becuase of her size. She's coming off an ACL now so time will tell if she is the same player. ACL injuries aren't career enders anymore but shifty athletic players are never quite the same because of mental hurdles after injuries like this. Bethune would have been a great response a year ago, but her injury and playing herself onto the USWNT radar in recently only supports my assertions. For the record I want to be wrong, but there is too much data out there that makes me so right.

Dunn short and super atheltic- attacking player at club level, outside back on national team. Should I continue....

You just ruined your argument, Chachi.

Rose Lavelle is absolutely huge isn't she? She's only 5'4" and by no means "big'. Ally Sentnor is young but making quite an impression already. She's 5'3" and plays as a forward. Croix Bethune, 5'3" is a midfielder. Mal Swanson, forward, 5'4" Tiffeny Milbrett, 5'2", Mia Hamm 5'5", not huge. Crystal Dunn is only 5'1". Yeah, she plays as left back for the USWNT but is most often in midfield or playing as a forward for her club teams.

Why on Earth would you say it doesn't count if a player is short but athletic? There is a reason they are called athletes. They are athletic. Poindexter/Poindexterettes, who aren't athletic at all, no matter their size likely won't make it no matter how long they can play keepie uppie in the yard.

If you think smaller players across the world playing at a high level aren't athletic and just "technical' you're sorely mistaken.

USWNT had its win streak ended by Japan. Japan is one of the smallest teams who are always competitive. It’s not about size, it’s about Chemistry and Teamwork on this level.

That's the part that always burns me. People will always use Messi as the short technical example but they conveniently forget that he is also a freak athlete who had world class speed.

ECNL was already consumer recognized better product and with less teams now in NOVA- you are lying to yourself if its not your child's goal to make one of those three teams. This doesn;t mean you are not good if you don't. GA is a wonderful platform for the 4th best goalie who wants to play and not split halves. GA is ideal for undersized technical players to get mins. GA could be better for the 5th best striker in NOVA to ensure you are featured and scoring goals. Find your fit, but please end the argument that ECNL is dying because of GA's growth this spring. They are closer to the new CCL with no threat of taking customers from those 3 ECNL teams, trust.

Keep adding clubs in NOVA GA you are just making the 3 ECNL clubs more exclusive and thus more attractive for competitve players to play together for the chance to not get spanked out west each June.

Odds are this guy owns an ECNL hoodie and hat.

I think everyone here is on board that HS age stay with ECNL, but for 2012 and younger GA is going to be the stronger platform. 2012 NVA is a good example of this, their team stayed together.

Yeh, there will only be one or two good teams to play in the mid Atlantic. The rest will suck. If you’ve been around for some time, you can remember playing teams in PA and North Carolina that are actually good teams. Better teams. You don’t get better playing in a mediocre league unless you get to advance to champions cup and nationals. All of the good players will gravitate toward one or two clubs.

Thats the name of the game and natural selection at work. Sorry but all 8 teams in the DMV can not be elite. That word gets thrown around way too casually. Most of these girls are not elite. Ebbs and flows between leagues and teams happens organically and I would argue is decided on the pitch, kids want to go to the winningest team they can get on, and that's where the kick and run displeasure comes in because the winningest team isn't always the best at developing players for the next level, or are they? Watched a lot of college soccer this past year and a lot of it is direct and looks just like ECNL games
